Here at College Group, we are celebrating Science Week this week!
The core theme for Science Week 2020 is 'Choosing our Future'.
We hear from Anna and Tanya from the College Biofuels Lab.
They share their perspective on a career in science.
We hope this inspires you and gives you a little insight into science careers and how we apply that here at College Group!
"Everybody is born a scientist! We are all as humans inherently curious and strive to learn more about our surroundings. Science is a wonderful, universal tool to observe and understand our environment and to learn how to work with the natural laws governing our universe for the benefit of ourselves, society, our planet and beyond!
Every day we are reminded of the benefit of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to our society through the development of vaccines, pacemakers, developing smart infrastructure and communications and creating smart solutions for green, clean energy production.
Our job in College Biofuels involves applying scientific knowledge to provide solutions for environmental protection progression. Process development for Biodiesel Production from waste-based feedstock is fascinating particularly when you know that this will in turn help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure a cleaner environment. Science has allowed us to move away from unsustainability and focus on creating energy that will reduce human impact on our environment.
Working in science allows you to broaden your own knowledge of the world around you. A science background will open doors to a variety of careers that is unmatched in many other fields. Since no one STEM field is independent you are guaranteed to be part of a diverse team no matter where you work or study.
And remember, science is not just confined to a lab or a classroom! It is inclusive to ALL people regardless of gender, race, social status, and beliefs. YOU can be a scientist everyday as long as you stay curious!"
