After the warm weather im seeing a big increase in dogs coming in with ticks and harvest mites . Luckily no fleas .
Please stay vigilant in checking your dogs skin . Ticks can often be mistaken for warts.
Harvest mites are tiny orange dots often found between the toes or legs but can migrate anywhere. Your usual spot on treatment might not be effective against them so please speak to your vet about treatment if you find them .
Also please check BEFORE coming in for grooming . While the harvest mites wont stay living on humans they cause intense itching .

I wasn't sure until today if I would need to ask clients to come in early again because of the hot weather forecast but I think its a definite yes .
Ill be in touch with clients booked in this week but if anyone booked in Tuesday -Saturday wants to volunteer to take the 7am /8am slots that would help me alot

Hi everyone.

20 years ago at the age of 21( I know giving away my age now) I opened Sabrina's Dog Grooming from my parents garage in Kilcullen .
Straight out of grooming school I was lucky to have my parents support to get me started . My father converted half his garage without a second thought and the first dogs strutted in.

Only a couple of years later I got the opportunity to move to Cottage Vets in Athgarvan.
First from a smaller room downstairs and eventually my dream groom room upstairs that I designed myself, where ive been based now for many more years .
As soon as I stepped foot in the cottage vets I knew I needed and wanted to be the best groomer I could be . This vets offers a very high standard of care to their clients and I wanted to do the same .
The support i recieved in the early years from Noirin and the Nolan family and later karen and all the nurses has been amazing .
In my 20s I didnt realise all the help they gave me but in my 40s I have great appreciation for each little thing they did and continue to do.

I have clients who came to me 20 years ago in Kilcullen who still come to me now with their new dogs and im so grateful for that.

Thank you to all my clients for your continued trust in me to take care of your dogs .
I look forward to many more years to come .
