In veterinary medicine, female vets currently make up 51% of the workforce in Ireland. This marks the first time in the country’s history that women represent the majority of registered veterinary practitioners, a profession traditionally dominated by men. 💁‍♀️
Here at Summerhill Vets, we are blessed to have a team of some of the most dedicated, professional, and caring women in any profession. 💪
Happy international women’s day 😊

Bo was the bestest boy today. 🐶🐾
He visited us for his yearly vaccination boosters. He didn’t mind being here at all. As long as Bo gets a tasty treat, he’s happy 😊

Shop local for Pancake Tuesday. 🥞🥞
We could pretend that Aisling and Rheanne made these delicious pancakes, but we thought it would be better left to the experts 😊

This friendly little lady was found near Shannon Doc in Gortlandroe, Nenagh, last night. She’s safe with us here at Summerhill vets.
She doesn’t have a microchip so proof of ownership is required.

Cookie the kid goat arrived in to us this week at Summerhill Vets in a little bit of bother.
He was 2 days old and feeling very much under the weather. A quick blood test revealed that he hadn’t drank enough colostrum from his mom soon after birth. So his immune system was compromised. 🤧😢
Luckily for Cookie, help was on hand. One of farm vets was out calving a cow, and that cow happily donated a small amount of blood. 🩸 Back in the clinic, the pets team took that blood and separated it out to get some plasma, jam packed full of antibodies 💪
Cookie was given this plasma very slowly and soon, he was perking up.
The next day, he was in great form, drinking a bottle and wagging his tail 😊
Cookie is gone home now, with a boosted immune system and a clean bill of health 🐐 .

There’s nothing like the curiosity of young children 👦👧
We were privileged to be visited by the kids from Nat’s Little Steps, our Neighbours in the CBS a few days ago.
Our vets, nurses and care team gave them a little tour of the clinic. They were so exited to see some of our patients and even sang one a “get well soon” song. 😍
They were so well behaved and had loads of interesting questions.👏
Everyone was buzzing for the rest of the day - it’s so nice to show the next generation of vets and vet nurses what it’s like to work at Summerhill Vets.
