🎄🐾 Keep Your Pets Safe This Christmas! 🎄🐾

The festive season is upon us, and while we're all excited to deck the halls and enjoy delicious treats, it's important to remember that some Christmas favourites can be harmful to our furry friends. At Highfield Vets, we're committed to helping you keep your pets safe and healthy during the holidays.

🚫 Foods like chocolate, grapes and raisins can be toxic to pets. Keep these out of reach, and be cautious with leftovers.
🌿 Holiday plants such as poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly can also pose risks if ingested by your pets.
⚠️ Decorations, tinsel, and electric lights can be enticing but dangerous if chewed or swallowed.

Monitor your pets around these festive items. If you suspect your pet has ingested something harmful, don't hesitate to contact us right away. Let's make this holiday season merry and bright for everyone, including our beloved animals! 🎅🐶🐱

❌APPEAL FOR OWNER OF FOUND DOG, PLEASE SHARE❌

We have a neutered male dog that was handed into us after been hit by a car on the Kells Road near the Ford garage. He isn’t microchipped. He is in stable condition.

❌APPEAL FOR OWNER❌

A deceased black female cat was brought to us, found in the Claremont Estate area of Navan. Unfortunately, while she is microchipped, her information is not registered on any database. She may have been missing since Sunday.

We understand how heart-breaking it can be to lose a beloved pet. If you or anyone you know is missing a cat in this area, please help us locate the owner by contacting us.

🥶It's that time of year again and the temperatures are dropping, so here are some tips to protect your pets against the icy weather.

Don't leave them outside. To keep them warm, make sure they have access to a warm and comfortable place to sleep Unless your pet has a thick fur coat and is acclimated to cold weather, they should not be left outside for extended periods of time 🏡

Salt and other ice-melting chemicals can irritate your pet's paws To prevent this, wipe your pet's paws with a damp cloth after each walk. Even though it's cold outside, your pet still needs access to fresh water. Make sure their water bowl is always full and not frozen ❄️

Don't shave your dog down to the skin in winter, as a longer coat will provide more warmth. If your dog is short-haired, consider getting him a coat or sweater.

Remember, if it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for your pet 🥶

📸✨ Check out these before and after photos of a Grade 4 dental transformation! 🦷 😲👏

A Grade 4 dental is done for pets suffering from advanced dental disease. It involves comprehensive cleaning, multiple extractions, and post-operative care. It becomes necessary in cases of severe tartar build-up, deep gum pockets, loose or missing teeth, and potential abscesses or root infections. Given the complexity of the surgery, it requires additional time and care due to the severity of the condition. 😬🦷

Regular dental checks are crucial to prevent such severe conditions and maintain good oral health🪥Call us now to book in for your pet’s dental check up 🦷✨

🐶 Half of the dogs in Ireland are overdue on vaccinations, risking their health. To address this, Highfield has launched the Boost and Protect offer with MSD Animal Health, providing overdue pets a new primary vaccination course for the price of a single booster💉

The aim of the offer is to assist pet owners who may have forgotten about their next booster or have been too busy to bring their pet into the practice, allowing them the opportunity to repeat their pet’s first jab while also receiving the booster at no extra charge.

The Boost and Protect offer is only available until 13th December, so make sure you get your pet fully protected again soon. 📅
