Archie came into to see us during the week with a sore eye, upon inspection we were amazed to see part of a fern had become lodged in his tear duct 👀After a little bit of sedation we were able to safely remove the fern, and were stunned to see how much was lodged in his eye!! Archie went home the same evening and is recovering at home 🏡 🌿👁️ **DOG OWNERS — WATCH OUT FOR FERN DANGERS!** 👁️🌿
A simple walk in the woods could lead to a painful eye injury.**Ferns and grass seeds** can easily lodge in your dog’s eyes, causing:
🔸 Redness & irritation
🔸 Squinting or excessive blinking
🔸 Discharge or swelling
🔸 Pawing at the face

🚨 **Left untreated, this can lead to:**
❗ Pain
❗ Vision loss
❗ Infection
❗ Surgery

✅ **Quick Tips to Protect Your Dog:**
✔️ Check their face, eyes & coat after walks
✔️ Keep long-haired breeds trimmed around the eyes
✔️ Avoid overgrown grassy or ferny areas
✔️ If their eyes look sore or they’re blinking a lot — get them checked ASAP!🐶 Don’t wait for it to get worse — prevention is easier than treatment.

This friendly boy has been straying in Rooska, outside Newcastle West the past few days.

He can sit and give the paw and is very friendly so surely someone is missing him?
