THROW BACK THURSDAY. Three years ago EWAN joined our fur family. he was rescued in Sardinia by two cat Angels : Patrizia and Emanuela. This brave little kitty had lost part of both his back legs and thanks to a wonderful Sardinian vet, he had survived various surgeries. We were familar with transporting kitties from Greece but it wasn't quite as straight forward getting Ewan from Sardinia to Donegal, but with the help of Animal Couriers we managed to product all the neccessery paperwork and Patrizia and Emanuela traveled with Ewan from the isle of Sardinia to a pick up point on the mainland to meet up with Animal Couriers. It was a lengthy process, but thanks to a great team effort we got Ewan home. Ewan has adapted to having partial back legs by using his upper body to walk on his front legs and keeping his back legs elevated.

Featuring another one of our beauties. This is TRUFFLES, we adopted her July last year when she was 4 months old from NWSPCA, Ballina. Truffles had undergone major surgery, she had a hip joint removed and replaced by a metal rod for support. Truffles is a super sweet kitty and loves nothing more than lots of fussing ❤️

BONITA aka BONNIE was handed into us three years ago, she was only a kitten and had turned up in someone's garden. Bonnie was way too young to be outside and was in danger as the home was very near a busy road so the homeowner asked if we would would take her. We were then contacted by the homeowner a couple of days later, there were another two kittens, one of which was killed on the road and the survivor (Mango) we took but sadly he too died within a few months. Bonnie thankfully thrived and grew into this beautiful girl.

RAFFERTY joined our fur family 2.5years ago, he was rescued by AIN. RAFFERTY, like our Flossy, has cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly cat syndrome),although Rafferty's balance isn't as severely effected as Flossy's. RAFFERTY is a super kitty with a very loving personality

Throw back Thursday. 13Years ago we adopted FLYNN, he had been handed into JDR (Jessie Dog Rescue). Flynn was the size and body weight of a 8 week old puppy when infact he was 7 months old, you can see every bone on his spine, the vet wasn't very optimistic about Flynn's survival, but Flynn had other ideas 🙂. For many nights l slept on the couch with tiny Flynn giving him fluids during the night, he was so malnourished that his poor body wasn't able to stomach food. It was a slow journey of recovery for Flynn but he made it and has grown into a big chunky, lovable boy ❤️

Gentle giant SEBASTIAN is blind and was living outdoors in Greece with his buddy Apollo. We adopted them and paralysed kitty Xena last year and they arrived in their forever home in Donegal last December. All three kitties settled in very well and are happily living indoors where they have a selection of kitty beds to choose from. Hopefully the memories of their life on the streets are long forgotten.

It all began with blind boy Bailey ....

4Poshpaws was started in 2008 after we adopted our first special needs kitten, Bailey, he was only ten weeks old and already had an operation to have his eyes removed due to untreated cat flu. Once Bailey came into our lives we knew we wanted to help other special needs cats/kittens as we felt they would be the ones that would be overlooked by people wanting to home a rescue animal. We now have over 60 special needs kitties from not just the UK and Ireland but from Greece, Malta, Spain and Egypt, quite a number of these kitties received their injuries due to human cruelty as well as neglect, living with our kitties are nine rescue doggies that follow the house rule “Cats are in charge”. 4Poshpaws is a self-funding organisation and we pay for the vaccinations/passport and transport costs to get our kitties to Donegal, plus their ongoing medical costs, we do not re-home as this is now their forever home where they get unconditional love and pampering. We reap the benefit of our endeavours daily as there is nothing more rewarding than seeing these precious kitties grow in confidence and learn to trust again.
