Itโs so important for us as groomers to ask WHY. Rather than labelling dogs as difficult , dramatic , bold or any of the many other things we commonly call dogs who struggle with grooming . Stop and Ask WHY
There are always reasons for these behaviours
Behaviour is combination
They are scared , uncomfortable and/or in pain. When we stop to ask why we recognise these issues. And can address them. We can guide owners on veterinary and behaviour intervention. That means a lot less stress for you and the dog and another dogs welfare tended to properly -isnโt that why we became groomers ?
We have bred dogs over thousands of years to do jobs for us and want to please us. And fighting is not in their best interest when it comes to survival . They donโt chose these responses easily - sometimes they donโt choose them at all fight or flight just takes over.
A prime example is Archie here in the pic - he struggled desperately with handling and grooming to the point he needed to use aggressive responses . Turns out He has hip dysplasia. Hes a young dog so joint problems etc are not just an issue in senior dogs.
