Last Tuesday, Agri Diagnostics delivered a short training course to students from Munster Technological University, showing them the latest methods and testing techniques.

A group of 11 students spent a morning in the company’s parasitology lab and were shown how to detect liver and rumen fluke in cattle. Parasites remain a health issue for farm animals, and it’s estimated that liver fluke disease causes annual losses of approximately €90 million in Ireland.

Here are some of our favourite photos from the day!

This week, Agriland.ie posted a really informative article on the BEEP-S Scheme and why it’s valuable to farmers.

Our takeaway? The BEEP-S Scheme supports farmers financially to test before they treat. Dosing your herd blankly is costly and will create resistance in your herd.

Agri Diagnostics is an approved laboratory for the BEEP-S Scheme. This year’s testing has been very successful with 100% reporting of results.

We’re delighted to support the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in executing the testing for this project.

Many farmers will now be considering their winter parasite treatment protocol for cattle and the first step should be to take a dung sample.
