A little help from a friend…

Meet my new apprentice Bailey, who gave her big brother a relaxing head massage during the osteopathic treatment 🙌

While osteopathic therapy takes a holistic approach to address structural issues and enhance overall well-being, traditional animal massage focuses on the soft tissue to support muscle health and recovery. 🤝

Both can complement each other perfectly.

If you are looking for a qualified canine osteopathic treatment for your dog, reach out to me at 087-268 5900 or send me a message for more information.

Why biomechanics & equine osteopathy matter 🐴

For horse owners, riders and trainers alike, understanding biomechanics and incorporating osteopathy into regular care routines can make a world of difference.

Together, they create a holistic approach to equine health, supporting well-being, enhancing performance, and promoting long-term soundness.

Equine osteopathy works by addressing the root causes of musculoskeletal imbalances and improving overall movement and function. By optimising biomechanics, we can help our horses move more freely, comfortably, and efficiently.

The principles of equine osteopathy not only support our horses’ physical health but also strengthen the incredible bond we share with them.

Make your horses' well-being a priority 🫶

What can a Canine Osteopath help with?

As with Equine Osteopathy, Canine Osteopathy offers gentle, hands-on care that can support your dog’s comfort, movement, and overall well-being, whether they’re a lively youngster or a senior slowing down a little.

Here are some of the main ways osteopathy can help:

🐾 Pain & Stiffness:
Osteopathy can ease ongoing pain and stiffness linked to arthritis, joint degeneration, or general wear and tear — helping your dog move more freely and comfortably.

🐾 Musculoskeletal Issues:
It addresses problems affecting joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, whether caused by ageing, repetitive strain, or injury.

🐾 Performance & Rehabilitation:
Ideal for working or competition dogs, osteopathy can enhance performance and aid recovery after surgery or injury.

🐾 Behavioural & Other Concerns:
By improving comfort and circulation, osteopathy can also help dogs who struggle to relax, as well as those with digestive issues or age-related changes.

Gentle, natural, and holistic canine osteopathy focuses on helping your dog feel their best, inside and out.

How to make the most out of Equine Osteopathy?

: Here are a few gentle reminders to help you make the most of osteopathic care for your horse.

👱‍♀️ Choose the Right Professional
Your horse’s well-being comes first. Always make sure your osteopath is qualified, experienced, and registered. It’s worth taking the time to find someone you trust.

📝 Keep Talking
Good communication makes all the difference. Share your horse’s history, quirks, and goals; The little details can help to understand what your horse truly needs.

🔄 It’s All Connected
Osteopathy works best as part of your horse’s overall wellness routine. Think of it alongside good nutrition, thoughtful exercise, and regular care — all working together to keep your horse happy and healthy.

💡 Notice the Changes
After a session, take time to watch and listen to your horse. You might spot subtle improvements in movement, mood, or comfort. Every horse responds differently and follow-ups can help build on their progress.

🐴 Stay Consistent
As your osteopath, I may suggest simple exercises or routines to support your horses’ recovery and balance.

Keeping up with these helps your horse get the most from their treatments. Osteopathy isn’t just about treatment — it’s about partnership.

By working closely with a qualified equine osteopath, you’re helping your horse move freely, feel great, and thrive for years to come.

As a fully qualified, experienced, and insured therapist, I provide tailored assessments, treatments, and recovery/maintenance programs for your horse.

Why should you always do the homework with your horse?

When you go to therapy yourself, whether it's osteopathy, physiotherapy, or massage therapy, you are usually given exercises to do at home that are specifically tailored to your problem and diagnosis.

These support the healing process and help you get to know your body better, recognize problems, and take responsibility for yourself.

This concept applies almost exactly the same way for horses!

Horse owners/riders who actively support their horses with exercises, stretching, proper warm-ups, and training get the most out of their osteopathic treatment and actively support healing, which leads to faster success.

The advantage for you is that you get to know your horse's body better, which means you can recognise changes, both positive and negative, faster.

There are countless simple and effective exercises that horse owners and riders can easily do themselves.

I will discuss some of them here (such as the carrot stretches). Case-specific exercises will be discussed with the owner/rider during treatment.
