This time of year lots of birds are fledgling, that means as they grow they get a bit squashed in the nest. Fledgling birds leave the nest and spend time hiding in hedges, bushes and long grass while they learn to fly properly.
Fledglings will be bright and alert and run away if you try to catch them, so if you take a little bit of time to watch them you'll see the parent birds coming down to feed them.
They're fine to leave alone
However if there's an obvious injury, drooping wing, broken leg etc they need help.
You can contact a licenced wildlife rescue and it really helps if you have a couple of photos or a short video to show the rescue so we can let you know the best course of action.
Cats kill millions of small animals and birds this time of year so please help save wild lives by limiting the time your cat is outdoors. Keeping them in between 7pm and 10am will let the birds and bats find food and lessens the risk of your cat predating young animals and birds.
Better still concider a Catio for your cat 😻
