How to prevent heatstroke in pets:

1. Only walk when it’s cool
2. Encourage them to stay in the shade with plenty of water
3. No unnecessary travel in the car and never leave them in the car
4. Be extra careful with flat- faced breeds

Symptoms of heatstroke in pets:
1. Hot skin
2. Vomiting or excessive drooling
3. Rapid breathing or heavy panting
4. Loss of coordination
5. Collapse or unconsciousness

What to do if your pet is over heating:
1. Move your pet to a cool indoor environment
2. Cool the head and body with cool water (not cold), wet towels and fans
3. Offer water

** Do not immerse your pet in cold water**

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of Wonky Mikey. Yesterday afternoon we said an extremely hard goodbye to our little friend after a short illness 💔
Mikey arrived to Dunmore Vets a year ago, stole our hearts and became such an integral part of our team.
He was the first to arrive to work and the last to leave, every day. He loved to sit on the printer and watch the world go by. He didn’t ask for much. Just milk, dreamies, gourmet pouches, salmon and a cuddle (on his terms).
We will miss his free spirit so much. Our sincere condolences to Francis & Sally who took Wonky Mikey in 7 years ago and gave him a wonderful life 🤍

Pets need vaccinations yearly to protect them against several preventable diseases. Now is the time to ensure your pet is up to date with its vaccinations, especially if you are putting them into kennels for the summer holidays!

Out of date vaccinations require two doses to ensure protection, 4 weeks apart.
If your pets vaccines are over 14 months out of date, you will pay for the restart vaccine as normal but MSD are kindly offering the booster vaccination (4 weeks later) free of charge.

We are having this offer from the 12th May to 27th June, so get checking your pet’s vaccination records 🐶 🐱 Booking is essential. Applies to cats and dogs only. T&C’s apply!
