Do we say “That’s it, we’re done”? There’s only so much we can do. Maybe there isn’t a home for every dog out there. We have to be realistic.

People don’t want Pit Bulls. They get a bad rap. Demonised by some people. It doesn’t matter if they will make a great pet and deserve a loving home. If she was another breed we know she would have found a home by now.

So we have to admit Nelly has an uncertain future. Keeping her in kennels for the rest of her life is not feasible. It’s not about the money, we would find the money. Is that the life we wish for a one year old dog? A dog who has never hurt anyone but has been plenty hurt by humans in her young life. A dog that adores people and wants to be around people. Do we lock her in a kennel with minimal human contact for ever?

She is scared of other dogs and not good with cats. She is scared of strangers. She’s too excitable for small kids. She’s better suited to the country than the city. However she’s loving, affectionate, playful, house trained, spayed, vaccinated, smart, good in the car, happy and most of all she deserves a chance.

We’re sorry Nelly, we have really tried but it’s not looking good.

Do you ever just look at your dog and think how are you SO NICE??! 🩷

Just an appreciation post for my own girl Aska! Aska's been working her tiny arse off at keeping her cool when she sees dogs out and about this summer and she's absolutely smashing it! She's been making me so bloody proud and it's unreal what a bit more consistency has done for her.

I absolutely love this girl! 🥹🥹🥹

Layla Kelly, from Kilfenora and a student of Kilnaboy National School Co. Clare is a bright, beautiful and determined 12 year old who has been bravely fighting an extremely rare and aggressive cancer, Adrenocortical Carcinoma, since 2023.

What started as back pain and fatigue when Layla was just nine, turned into a devastating diagnosis. She has endured two major surgeries, where her adrenal gland, a kidney and a section of her liver were removed along with the tumours. She has undergone months of gruelling chemotherapy, and spent almost seven consecutive months in hospital.

Earlier this year, scans revealed another more aggressive tumour. She began immunotherapy but unfortunately, her body rejected it after 2 rounds of treatment. Once again Layla became very sick. As a result of this, her medical team have decided that Layla needs a very complex, lifesaving surgery, which can only be done by a select group of specialist surgeons in the Netherlands.

Layla has faced every challenge with courage, determination, and a smile, and her parents, Teresa & Brian are so very proud of her. Layla dreams of getting back to school, playing sport again, and being the big sister to her younger siblings, Jack (9) and Alannah (5).

Family and Friends of Layla would truly appreciate it if you could support us in our campaign. Your donations will go directly towards:
Layla’s treatments, medications and future support.

Reasons why I'm proud of the Thursday gang:

Willow: Taking to the hikes like a duck to water. 🦆 Phased by NOTHING. Doing SO well at learning to contain her excitement and having the time of her life in the process. 👏

Bilko: The hearing aid was perfectly tuned up! Setting the best example for Willow. The only one to check on me when I slid down the hill! Or was it more of a " God Sinéad you look ridiculous down there". Stuck with me then until I ushered him on to go do dog things. 🥹🩷

Summer: Realises she has now orphaned a baby collie (Willow) and is taking to her mothering duties very well! Tolerant but fair. 🤣 The hearing aid definitely had an expensive set of batteries in today! Loads of check ins with me and brilliant recall. 🙌

Spooky: Absolute superstar! The king of recall (always). So patient with me while I wrestled with my waterproofs, I know he doesn't adore the van so I appreciated him being so good. Totally unphased by the arrival of puppy, sees himself as the responsible uncle! 🥰

Rafi: Now ready to graduate from the hands free longline to total off lead freedom!! So proud of this boy and the progress he's made in a few short weeks. 💙

Thank you so much to all your lovely humans for letting you hang out with me. 🥰🥰🥰

Odin: Personally I feel I have a bigger brain than you Clyde. I'm also much more optimistic about life in general which the laydeez really love. I'm also a lot less of a complete grump OOPS did I say that out loud? Oh sorry...

Clyde: Let me tell you something, I don't care that you're technically made of gold. I have much more expensive taste than you and like to read novels in artisan cafés on my days off. You probably wouldn't know the places I go.

Odin: Right well same time next week?

Clyde: Indeed... Same time next week. *grumbles under breath*.

Nelly has been waiting 132 days – please don’t let her wait a day longer 💔💔
Poor little Nelly doesn’t know why she keeps being overlooked. She’s such a good girl, and doesn’t understand why nobody wants her 😢

Nelly adores her current foster family, but she really needs a home with a large garden where she can do her zoomies and let out all her happy, playful energy. It would really help to build her confidence! Ideally, we are looking for someone who is home for a lot of the day, as Nelly craves human connection and just wants to be near people. She’s timid around other dogs, so we’re also looking for a home where Nelly would be the only pet. She can be a bit bouncy when she’s excited, so a home without cats or young kids would be best too.

Nelly is only one year old and has so much love to give. Despite a tough start in life, she’s still incredibly affectionate, goofy, and playful. She’s housetrained, great in the car, and loves her walkies, and just adores being close to her people. If you can’t offer a forever home, then even a foster home with a large secure garden would make the world of difference for her right now. If you can see what a little gem Nelly is – please message us.

She’s been waiting 132 days. Help us get the word out so that she won't need to wait a day more 💔
