Yesterday evening I did the coolest thing I have ever done with my Chessies. We went swimming together. When we had waded out far enough, so that the dogs were floating, I wrapped my fingers into Yeats' woolly coat and he took me surfing over and across the waves. His speed and strength were simply amazing to feel. So often I have been an onlooker as he takes on the Sea on our walks but yesterday evening he kindly let me share in one of the most free moments of magic I have ever experienced. Thank you Yeats ❤️🩷

Delighted to come away with a win in Novice for Ir Ch Riverrun Everybody’s Friend at the Ulster select AV Retriever Club working test today. Lovely atmosphere run in stunning grounds in the Glen's of Antrim.
Yeats also ran in Prelim. This was his first time competing in AV working tests and he coped well completing all 4 retrieves.

We are excited to again be heading to the Gamefair at Ragley Hall this July. This year Cara and I will be competing over all three days in 2 separate competitions.
Friday/ Saturday we will compete as part of Team Eire with our team mates Jim Collins and Dan Higgs in the Euro Challenge event. On Sunday we will be part of Team Chessie competing in the Minority Breeds Challenge. We are extremely grateful to Harry Nash of Renault trucks Ireland for sponsorship.

At some point a young Chessie will become less outwardly focused and more focused on you, the Handler. This generally happens after adolesence at around 3 years. It is at this stage that training can accelerate and you can rejoice in finding that the young enthusiastic puppy you had 3 years ago has finally returned having survived that rocky, hormonal road through adolesence. 🫠😁

Just a week after picking up Best Veteran and a COM at the UK CBRC spring working test Cara was back in the show ring on Sunday at Fermoy Int All Breed Champ show. Happy that she was awarded Green star, Veteran CACIB and BOB finishing off her day by placing 3rd in the Group. Our judge was Mrs K Hardwick from New Zealand.
