The end result of Retriever training is The Retrieve. To get there takes one percent actual retrieving and 99 per cent individual pieces of the retrieve to bring it all together. Joe running a mark this morning. Done to spot where his pinch points are. Lots of things obvious that need to be addressed before we repeat a complete mark again.

Yeats in the ring today for the International Irish Kennel club show. An entry of 4 Chessies.
Under Gundog specialist Ms C Fallon he won Best Dog, Graded Excellent and Best of Breed.

Moving on from garden work, to open spaces. Lots of distractions while maintaining enough focus to keep heelwork solid and a competent complete retrieve. Good work Joe.😉Seeing so much of Grandad Bertie in this young dog's work ethic.

On judging in the show ring, I like to keep these words in mind from Nat Horn
~ One thing my father often advised me of long before I started judging is how important it is to look for what is good in a dog before you start to get get concerned about faults. It can prevent you from eliminating a dog from competition because of onr minor negative thing, or from rewarding a dog who perhaps has nothing outstandingly wrong, but is a dog that in all aspects is quite mediocre.~
