The ✨️modified parallel technique✨️ helps to remove some of the zygomatic arch interference over the maxillary 3rd and 4th premolars in cats, compared to the “traditional” bisecting angle technique.
Size 2 film is placed intraorally. In this picture, we are trying to capture quadrant 1 premolars (106, 107, and 108) and molar (109); therefore, the upper edge of the film leans against quadrant 2. The lower edge of the film is positioned in the lingual aspect of the quadrant 4. The ET tube is placed on the non-exposure side of the film, and the ET tube tie is unsecured to allow deep intraoral film placement.
The x-ray is then taken parallel to the plate.
