I have 28 years experience in whelping and hand rearing puppies and I pride myself on excellent survival rates. I started showing dogs when I was 6 years old, my family bred Yorkshire terriers and Maltese. In later years we switched from yorkshire terriers to Shih tzu's bu
t really only showed the Maltese. I competed in the Junior handlers associaton classes through each age group and also handled dogs of various breeds and sizes for other owners. I have owned dogs all my life, I am very comfortable around all breeds, have a great understanding of dog behaviour and I am a very experienced owner. Most labours begin at night time and I will be on call 24/7 from the 61st day of your dogs pregnancy. Once her labor begins I will travel to your home to assist her whelping and deal with any issues that may arise ( stuck and/or breech puppy, unresponsive puppy etc)
I carry a fully stocked medical kit with everything I may need for both momma dog and puppies, including coloured collars for puppies, whelping and puppy records. I will be with your dog from the time she starts to whelp until all puppies have been delivered, are nursing and both momma and the puppies are settled. I am available by phone post whelp for any concerns that you may have regarding the puppies or your dog and a call out to visually check on progress of your dog the puppies can be arranged if needed. Contracts are to be signed prior to your dogs 61st day of pregnancy and I can arrange a meeting with you at your home to go over these with you free of charge. Most clients will need to book in advance but In the event of an emergency please do not hesitate to call me ( 24 hours a day) and if I am available to attend your dog I most certainly will. Contracts can be signed on arrival at your home if time permits or during whelp. You are most welcome and encouraged to be there with your dog and assist if you wish. HAND REARING
I am available to hand rear puppies ( and kittens) regardless of litter size. Puppies may need hand rearing for a number of different reasons....
* Rejection by the Dam (most commonly after a C-section but can happen for other reasons also)
* Dam not producing milk
* Very large litter and some puppies needing hand feeding.
* Illness of the Dam
* Death of the Dam
I have successfully raised countless puppies and kittens for owners and rescues. I truly love what I do and treat each one with complete love and care from the moment they come into my care until the day I hand them back to their owner. They are given round the clock 24 hour care and attention and are never left alone. I have a wonderful vet who is just a 5 minute drive away from me and available by phone should the need arise and a puppy or puppies need veterinary attention. I raise the puppies as part of my family and ensure they are well handled and socialised whilst in my care.
