☀️🐾 HOT DOG SUMMER ALERT! 🐶🌡️

With the Irish heatwave in full swing, it’s important to keep our furry friends safe and cool! 💛

Heatstroke is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that happens when a pet’s body temperature rises too high and they can’t cool themselves down. 🚨

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Lethargy or weakness
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Stumbling or collapse

Here are our top tips for keeping your pets safe in the heat:

💧 Regularly refill their water bowl
Fresh, cool water helps prevent dehydration and keeps your pet comfortable throughout the day.

🧊 Freeze their favourite treats
Frozen treats are a fun way to cool down while providing enrichment and hydration! 🍓🐶

🚗 NEVER leave your dog in a hot car
Even with windows cracked open, temperatures inside a car can become dangerously high within minutes. Heatstroke can happen faster than you think! ☀️🔥

🌅 Walk your dogs early in the morning or later in the evening
Avoid the hottest parts of the day and protect sensitive paws from hot pavements. 🐾

🏠 Keep your house cool
Close blinds, use fans where appropriate, and make sure your pet has access to shady, comfortable resting spots.
