Homing Appeal. I need your help! And it's been a while since I've popped on. But here's the story...

Cute ones, fluffy ones, shy ones, older ones, active ones, cheeky ones. You can find them all but here is the PURRfect one! He's about 8 weeks young and wayyyy too young to be roaming alone. So he needs a home! Luckily for him, he is able to turn his copious amounts of cuteness into being totally home-able!

The various charities I contacted are packed to the rafters. The increase in kittens during this season (as always) is having a knock-on effect at facilities and foster homes, and with the surge of homeless animals, there's a very heavy burden to find homes.

Understanding that volunteers already spend every resource accomplishing their day to day tasks means they just don’t have time for the task of finding this little boy a safe place so it is no doubt assigned to me.

What can I say? He's friendly and fun and pawsome. He's so pawsome I want him for keeps, but I can't keep him because I currently have a foster doggo with injuries. I wish I could say this in a sort of non-chalant 'he's pretty cool' kind of way. But believe me - I mean it - he's PAWSOME! You will mostly try to deter yourself from his oncoming path for fear that you'll get stuck in a 30 minute interaction that includes excessive purring, squishing and smooshing this teeny one.

I will cover vet fees and ensure this little guy is vaccinated and neutered when he finds a new home. He's using a litter tray and he snuggles with you at night. But be cautious, he will steal your heart.

Friends. Nature lovers. Dog lovers. Rescue lovers.

I’m selling some merch to facilitate the creation of pollinator habitat and the formation of a sustainable place on our little planet. Come and bee the change.

As a photographer, I spend lots of time in the outdoors and I see what a difference nature and garden spaces can make to peoples wellbeing. It’s also made me very aware of the huge environmental challenges we face in Ireland and beyond, from habitat loss and decreasing biodiversity to the threats faced by bees and other pollinators. Can you believe that one third of Ireland’s wild bees are headed for extinction, in large part, because there’s not enough food for them?

Ever wonder, ‘what can I do?’ It can feel overwhelming and like there isn’t anything.

But there are simple actions we can take to provide much needed food and shelter for the nature living around us. Let’s create a patchwork of colour and engaging wildlife that will begin to bloom during early spring, when everything else seems rather dark.

It’s been quite a long time since I’ve last posted over here. Janey Mac! The long hiatus is mostly due to the fact that I’ve been off on all kinds of wacky, wonderful adventures, but I couldn't resist sharing this WetNose with you all (and I'm grateful to do so).

Oscar, unit morale booster and therapy dog. Authorised to conduct public outreach and promote Stepping Stone Forests and their missions. What can I say Oscar, a bag of treats doesn’t seem to reward your exemplary presence as you keep watch with a wag and a smile over a stretch of cardboard and mulch, and meet and greet the students.

The oldies have always had a very special place in my heart. And a cuddle with this sweet, sweet older boy? I’m lucky.

Photography has been changing my life consistently since I can remember. From the first time I walked through the doors of the pound and clumsily fumbled my way around my camera all those years ago, something moved me. But dogs are a kind of magic and in my lifetime, photographing them has been the everything I never knew I was truly meant to do.

But on this unforgettable phase of Project Citiverde magically co-ordinated by Maria from Blakestown Drive Community Group over the last couple of weeks, I was met with more loveliness, inspiration and hope, more incredible people, amazing dogs, and banked more beautiful memories than I thought could be possible since closing my studio doors during the pandemic.

Can’t wait to see you again next year, Oscar. Bring the humans and the trees. I'll bring the treats.

I failed Frankie. I thought he needed a quieter home, but I was wrong. He needed patience. He needed love. He needed understanding.

And now as I contemplate these photos that I took during a foster period with this little guy, I see moments that underline and give texture to a life that was on the edge of survival. They offer insight and thoughts about time itself. And that's the thing about time - it leaves our physical world in the dust. We can’t get it back.

This week Frankie should have celebrated his very first Gotcha day. But he didn’t. He was euthanised by the people he trusted. Because in one split second, he made a bad decision, and he got into a dog fight.

Use your eyes and heart to see in these frames... his death, his suffering, and how he was misunderstood. But see mostly the whole being of Frankie, which constituted his daily life – his curious, soft, beautiful, joyful, energetic and goofy nature.

I believe that photography is not really about cameras. It’s about sharing. We choose to frame a moment that we’d like to hold onto for now, and for all time, to share with ourselves and others. It’s much more interesting to imagine why we share than why we frame. I feel that within this process of sharing, there’s an essential discussion within ourselves, about who we are as a person. About the world we live in, and about the world we’d like to live in.

That’s why I’m finally back here on the Wet Nose Page, sharing again. I'm collaborating with a tribe of beautiful beings who know kindness , love and support for one another. And to also tell you...
