My two welfare Saturdays are now full. From 15march all going to plan with schools, I will start grooming my January dogs as these will be 12weeks overdue and are welfare cases in my eyes. I will continue from there to work through prebookings and lists. I will ring you to arrange. Thanks

Level 5 continues. I’ve received a certain amount of clarification on my situation. If you are an existing customer and are concerned about your dogs welfare I may be able to offer a groom under vets referral/welfare grounds.

Welfare referrals may include but are not limited to the following; woolly coated dogs that are heavily pelted/matted, very elderly/soiled/incontinent, overgrown and curling nails, those suffering from skin conditions.

If you have any queries and your dog has been groomed by me before please ring me and leave a message and I’ll get back to you.

Thank you šŸ™ 🐶

Dog grooming was deemed non-essential after the question was raised in the Dail in October. My current insurers will not cover me at level 5. In light of the discussions of level 5 continuing, I am looking at ways of getting cover for those dogs most in need. I wholeheartedly agree with level 5 for humans but to wait until may potentially, is just too long for most dogs.

527 signatures are still needed! Grooming is essential for animals health & welfare

Knowledge is power. Are you going to buy a puppy? Would you know how to check its teeth to make sure it's old enough to leave its mother? Andrea the Vet gives the following excellent advice:

If you don't want to be complicit in the illegal puppy trafficking and the animal cruelty associated with it, you should watch closely.

This puppy is definitely younger than 8 weeks and should never have been separated from his mom. At the age of 8 weeks all!!! milk teeth are already available. Neither the middle incisors nor the molars broke through here. Age should be 4-6 weeks.

This puppy needs his mom and his siblings to develop proper social behavior. Please keep your hands off puppies like this.
Additionally, this puppy was screaming in his carrying basket the whole time as he was missing physical contact, another indication of the very young age.

Thank you so much for coming to visit me in 2020 and for your generosity in December. That was my toughest month yet, trying to fit everyone in(might be that the body’s getting olderšŸ˜³šŸ™ˆ)
I am now open 14years and this year lost some amazing pals that have been with me since they were puppies. We’ve each grown as humans and dogs. I’ve been privileged to know their family stories along the way, that has made my job so much more enjoyable, the human interaction and backstory is so lovely for me(the dogs don’t always talk to me😜)
And so level 5 again. Thank you to all of you who rebooked, it makes mine and your life easier. You’re on the list.I’ll contact you when I can reopen and as in December I’ll work day/night/weekends to get your dogs sorted. There’s no point getting into the rights/wrongs of this, the numbers speak for themselves.
Stay safe. As ever, the phone is on, if you’re worried about anything, give me a buzz, send me a photo. Welfare cases can still be referred to a vet and then on to a groomer.
Suzanne O’Sullivan, 3 times irish groomer of the year who trained me in, has a post on her salon ā€˜dogsbody dog grooming’ page from Jim O’callaghan, a TD in her local area Re dog grooming. I’ll post in comments.
Thank you for bringing your dogs to me.

Myself and Chili have walked the legs off ourselves and are glad to be back in the salon from Tuesday.I’m contacting my Oct/nov dogs today to rearrange. I’m full til January at the moment. Dogs who have been to me before can book for January and I can move you forward if I get a cancellation but there are currently NO pre-Christmas appointments. Thank you!šŸ¾šŸŽ„šŸ¤—

So as it’s level 5 I will be closing from tomorrow😢We are categorised as non essential and only ā€˜critical welfare cases’ to be done. As you are all such responsible dog owners, none of my fabulous dogs will get into too much difficulty over these 6weeks, I’ll get you all fixed up when I’m back. We might be a little shorter here or there but we now know it grows back! And some of you have really surprised me with your brushing skillsšŸ‘
So December bookings will be finešŸ™šŸ¤žthose who were wash and blowdrys may need to be full grooms but I’ll ring you the day before your appointment to chat as I’ll need extra time for this.
My november dogs...leave it with me, I’ll work Saturdays or evenings in December and will get to as many of you as possible.
Hopefully this lockdown goes well for you all and we come out the end with schools and healthcare still working and better times ahead šŸ¤—šŸ¶
