I am SO tired of rabbit owners being blamed when bonding doesnโ€™t go perfectly.

If your rabbits mounted, chased, nipped, fur pulled or even tried to fight when introducedโ€ฆ
that does NOT mean you โ€œraised them wrong" or you are somehow at fault!

Rabbit bonding is complex.
It is nuanced.
And a lot of the advice online massively oversimplifies it.

Putting two rabbits together and having them calmly sniff each other for 30 seconds is NOT what most real-life bonding journeys look like.

Most owners I support already feel guilty, overwhelmed and terrified theyโ€™ve ruined everything before they even come to me.
You have not failed your rabbits.

Bonding is about learning to read behaviour, knowing when to step in and when to step back, and adjusting the process to the rabbits in front of you.
Please stop shaming rabbit owners for struggling with rabbit bonding ๐Ÿค

Why some โ€œinstant bondsโ€ arenโ€™t actually secure bonds

In this episode, weโ€™re talking about one of the biggest misconceptions in rabbit bonding: the โ€œinstant bond.โ€

Some rabbits appear to fall in love immediately. No fighting. No drama. No stressful bonding sessions. It can feel like youโ€™ve completely skipped the hard part.

Butโ€ฆ is that always a true bond?

In this episode, I explore:

The difference between coexistence and genuine bondingWhy some rabbits seem fine in large spaces but fight in carriers or pensWhat rabbits still need to learn, even when they โ€œget alongโ€The role hierarchy and communication play in long-term bond successWhy unresolved dynamics can show up weeks or even months laterThe subtle signs that a bond may not actually feel secure to the rabbitsWhy โ€œthey seem fineโ€ isnโ€™t always enoughHow to create a bond that feels stable, safe, and trustworthy long term
I also share a real-life example of a pair who appeared bonded on the surface, but whose behaviour suggested the hierarchy still hadnโ€™t been resolved.

Because while instant bonds do happen โ€” and sometimes you really have won the rabbit lottery โ€” a secure bond is still something that needs to be built intentionally.
