🏆 1st, 3rd and 4th Best In Show 🏆
A Wonderful Day at Midland Counties All Breed Open Show

On 14th February 2026, at the National Show Centre, Cloghran, I had the privilege of judging at the Midland Counties All Breed Open Show — and it proved to be a very memorable appointment.

The highlight of the day was seeing my group winners go on to achieve 1st, 3rd and 4th Best in Show. To have three group winners place in the final Best in Show line-up is a rare and outstanding result, and it was incredibly rewarding to see them recognized again at the highest level.

During the day, I judged Groups 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10, followed by Gents Handling, Ladies Handling, Bred by Exhibitor, Not Bred by Exhibitor and New to Showing. The overall quality and variety of breeds presented made for an enjoyable and competitive day in the ring.

My sincere thanks to the committee for the appointment and for running such a well organised event. A special thank you to my steward, Fiona Stafford, who was fantastic throughout the day — efficient, supportive and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Thank you also to all exhibitors who supported the show and presented such a strong entry across the groups.

This appointment also marked the completion of my lower-level judging pathway, having previously judges three Open / Limit Shows, awarded Green Stars in Poodles followed by this Open Show appointment. Under the new regulations I now look forward to progressing to my next three breeds when eligible in 2027.

A brilliant day all round and one I was proud to be part of.

What an incredible moment for our school, and for me personally as their tutor, as we celebrate two remarkable achievements at the Celtic Coat Awards.

A huge congratulations to Keith O’Dowd, crowned New to Grooming Groomer of the Year, and to Joanne Daly, awarded Cat Groomer of the Year. Joanne was also honoured with a Special Award for Dedication to the Industry — an exceptional recognition that reflects her commitment and passion.

It was a superb evening, expertly organised by Tanya Sales and Michael Shiels, whose work continues to elevate our industry and support its development into a more specialist sector.

I am immensely proud of both Keith and Joanne. Their progress, professionalism and determination have been inspiring to watch, and it is a privilege to guide them on their journey.

Just arrived at The Celtic Coat Grooming Excellence Awards in Northern Ireland and am delighted to be nominated in 2 categories. Cat Groomer of the Year and Grooming School of the Year.
We were given framed certificates as a keepsake which is a lovely touch.
Best of luck to all those involved, it’s going to be a busy evening 🪩🍾

✨ Triple Finalist – Honoured to be finalists

I’m not usually very good at sharing things like this (in fact, I didn’t share last year’s finalist place at all 🙈), but this time it feels too special to keep quiet.
Our little team has somehow found itself shortlisted for not just one, but three awards:

Cat Groomer of the Year (The Celtic Coat 2025)
Grooming School of the Year (The Celtic Coat 2025)
The Spirit of Mary Toland Award (IPDGA Madra Mánia 2025) an honour especially close to my heart, chosen by Mary’s family. 💜
Keith O'Dowd is also shortlisted in New to Grooming Groomer of the Year, he is one of my students and a really nice guy.
