Not one enquiry for this handsome boy.

Loki 😍

This is Loki.

Loki is a meatball.

He is a French Bulldog/Pug cross aged 7 months.

There is nothing low-key about Loki.

He is stubborn, delinquent, talkative, persistent, flirty, and extremely playful.

He’s that cool 17-year-old that hangs out your street corner eating burgers with his mouth open and chasing women and getting nowhere fast.

He’s the kind of guy who marches into your house and starts fixing himself a coffee in your kitchen and doesn’t offer you one.

Like most teenagers he can spend endless hours playing with his toys and games. Or any activity that involves exercising his teeth.

He might throw up in your car and refuse to clean it up. It’s a good job he doesn’t drink.
If he could drive, he’d have a Vauxhall Chevette with an oversized exhaust, pink furry dice dangling from the rear-view mirror and baldy tyres.

I would say he had more balls than brains, but CIN is kindly taking care of that for him.

He is also insanely cute with his big meatball head and burnt pork chop ears. Those ears can hear a plastic bag rustle from the next village.

His beautiful brindle colouring sets him apart from the crowd.

When I say he gets on well with other dogs, I mean he sticks his tongue in their ear and tries to impress them with his bunny hops. Surprisingly some dogs are into it.

For him people are up there with women and Vauxhall Chevettes. Especially if they have treats. He considers treats anything that fits in his mouth, and not necessarily edible in nature.
This is the kind of dog that makes you exhausted just looking at him. He has endless energy. Once he’s worn out your dogs, kids, family and neighbours he is liable to hop on a bus to the local working men’s club to find fresh playmates.

This dog is needing someone to spend plenty of time with him engaged in activities.

He does enjoy working for treats.

He is likely to need plenty of exercise.

Lead training is currently in progress.

Loki is still a chunky puppy with a mouth that likes to investigate his environment, so we recommend a home with no children under 5 years old.

He could be homed as an only dog or along with playmates.

I look at his big round face and give thanks dogs don’t have opposing thumbs.

If this goofball sounds like he might be your soulmate, please PM the page.

Please note
✅Rehoming fee and homecheck applies
✅No children under the age of 5 in the household
✅You must be prepared to visit Loki in his foster home at least twice
✅Loki is in foster in Northern Ireland

Thank you for that brilliant comparaison. Let's spread the word, and keep your doggos on a long line if their recall isn't reliable enough to be totally free.
Other dogs and their humans will thank you!

Finding the cause of a behaviour problem is always the first step of addressing that behaviour.

Resource guarding is actually a natural behaviour and is no exception, you need to figure out why your dog is guarding something!

How would you feel if your colleagues put their hands in your plate at lunch time or tried to take it away from you when you are super hungry? I know I would snap at anybody who'd try, would'nt you?

Would'nt you try to put distance between you and the old uncle who gives you long head rubs when snoozing on your favourite sofa?

If you are hired as a security agent, and your job is to let people know when you hear suspiscious, how would it feel to be punished for it?

When you're feeling under the weather and are having back pain, you don't want anyone up your face, do you?

Well, dogs are the same, and they don't have the same that capacity to rationalize things that we do.

They are not territorial, trying to show us they are boss or even stubborn.

Most of the time a dog resource guarding is just trying to protect something that they consider very important, themselves or someone they care about. It's our job to listen, make them feel secure enough, respect their space and help them understanding that they have nothing to fear.

Is your dog guarding things and making cohabitation hard? I can help!

My turn to wish everyone out there a very happy new year 2023 🥳

Looking back, 2022 has been such a busy year, full of challenges, and I learned soooo much.

Professionnally, everything changed for me : I started a small business in a country that isn't where I am from, where everyone speaks a language that isn't my native language. I am now doing something that I absolutely am passionate about and get to help people with their doggos every day, that is soooo rewarding.

I completed my initial behaviour course with a few different other ones :

- Separation anxiety pro trainer with Julie Naismith ( which I chose to make my specialty)
- The practical instructor course with the IMDT

- Cooperative Care with Iris Castaing

- Ongoing : CBATI-KA with the Grisha Stewart academy.

I would like to thank all those wonderful humans that trusted me with their furry best friends as well as the amazing and kind professionals that made me feel supported ❤️❤️

On a more personal note, the whole year has been a challenge with Croquette. After a year of struggling to be heard, we finally got him diagnosed with Chiari like malformation, which is making his life ( and ours) way harder.
He is now on several meds to help reducing the screams coming out of the blue, the constant scratching, the extreme noise and touch sensitivity. All those have improved( but still there ) but his energy level has decreased a lot, and it's heartbreaking to see him becoming reluctant to get out of bed to go for a walk on the morning when before he would be by the door the second he saw me getting dressed.

He is such a special little dog, and still brings us sooo much happiness. My biggest wish for this year is that we could contain the progression of his disease for as long as possible, and keep having adventures together!

I also want to keep educating myself about dog behaviour and training, and to keep meeting awesome humans that value their dog's happyness !

When we talk about training a dog, we always think of very practical skills such as recall, walking on a lead, sitting and laying down.

Don't get me wrong, those skills are very important for the dog's safety and need to be worked on as well.

The thing is : other skills that are equally as important, that I consider as " foundation skills" are too often left out : settling everywhere, developping autonomy and being on their own for example.

A dog who is had been taught how to settle on a "safe spot will find it easier to cope with a busy enrironment.
It Can also be a very valuable tool for separation anxiety training.

A dog who is able to keep themselves busy away from their humans even when they are at home will see their confidence boosted.

Have you taught those things to your dog ?

Feel free to reach out for help :-)

Huge congrats to the team Rafa, who just completed 15 minutes of alone time without any anxiety.

Not only he didn't show any signs of stress but he was also relaxed enough to sleep through half of it, lifting his head, and deciding that going back to sleep was more the best thing to do 🥳

His humans are very invested in his wellbeing and have been working hard to get there, well done to that amazing team!

Next step will be introducing all the departure cues, one by one : meaning all the signs that his humans are going without him!

Hard work and going at the dog's rythm, making sure they are always comfortable is the only way to go if you want to teach them that they are okay when you are leaving.

Is your dog experiencing difficulties being left?

Feel free to reach out for help !

Today, on the phone, someone enquiring about behaviour consultations asked me if I thought I was strong enough to deal with the dog since she is quite big.

As much as I understand the concern when you have a big dog, regarding the behaviourist's ability to help, a few extra pounds of muscles would be no use to me!

The reason for that is that when we work on your dog's behaviour and training, I only use fear /force free, science based methods. Meaning I don't show the dog who's boss, I don't physically compell them to listen to me ( and you).

Instead, I find where the challenging behaviour is coming from, and once the cause is found, we can start putting a behaviour modification plan together.

I only use training tools that are adapted and comfortable for the dog, always make sure that what we're doing is respectful of the dog's state of mind and comfort zone.

So the answer to that man was YES, I absolutely can handle your dog. The same way I don't need to see the dog freaking out to be able to address the issue, I don't need to "man handle" them to see results happening.

Every behaviour has a cause, and once we find it, we can help the dog feeling better. Then the " behaviour doesn't have a reason to exist any more!
