THE LITTLE SUGAR GLIDER - AN UPDATE

This story has upset us and we feel the need to speak our mind about this Sugar Glider and the breeding, selling, and keeping of exotic animals as pets.
Firstly, this little guy is now safely in the hands of a veterinary nurse who is experienced with exotic animals and knows exactly what Sugar Gliders need.
Secondly, these are wild animals that do not make good pets. They should not be pets at all. They are bred and sold purely for money without consideration for the species itself.
THE REST OF THE STORY
This little fella was dubiously procured by an individual from a breeder who went on to sell him for over €500.
The purchaser of this little fella perhaps didn't know or realise what Sugar Gliders needed so contacted DAR when Buddy here started to get depressed and stopped eating.
We were also surprised at the number of queries from people who wanted Buddy for their children and/or had no previous experience with Gliders.
PLEASE think twice about buying exotic animals. Is it really necessary and are you doing it for the welfare of the animal or for your own entertainment? From where we are standing, the only ones who benefit from having exotic animals are not necessarily the animals themselves but those in the supply chain of breeders and sellers.
