IRISH WILDLIFE - Working along with members of the public & wildlife rehabilitators to ensure survival of the most vulnerable animals on earth - Sunday August 17th, 2025

Pretty much everyday, we get calls about injured wildlife. We do our best to get wildlife the help needed but this is often very challenging for DAR on-top of our other rescue work.

Today was no exception; Zofia was walking her dog this morning in Baltray Co Louth and came upon a fallen nest with two young ruffled birds, dazed not knowing what happened. They landed on the road and indeed were in a precarious situation.

Zofia contacted DAR straight away, and ... long story short ... we arranged for the two young birds to get to a local wildlife rehabilitator this morning.

Many thanks to Zofia for being concerned enough to reach out to DAR and helping out with their rescue and transport. 🙏💪🏼

Rocky is in search of a new home and family due to changes in his owner's personal circumstances and dogs being prohibited in rental accommodation.

✅ Neutered & Microchipped
✅ Vaccinations Up to Date
✅ Seven Years Old

He is a fun loving little dog who captures the hearts of everyone he meets. As much as his owner hates having to give up Little Rocky, who he has had since he was a pup, life often throws challenges at us, and nothing is ever smooth sailing - hence Rocky needs a new situation and fast! PRONTO!

INTERESTED? We do not have any information on Rocky with young children, other dogs, or cats but would think a quiet home with no drama would be best for this lovely gent of a dog where life moves a slower pace and where there is time to smell the roses.

We are looking for a temporary foster home for this 6-Month Old Pup. Molly Moos Westie Rescue has offered to take her in but little Gucci's current living situation is not ideal as there is no secure garden and residents are not allowed to have pets in their dwelling.

The “Bag it Bin It” Community Awareness Days aims to raise public awareness about the issue of dog fouling in public spaces. The event will promote responsible pet ownership, highlight the environmental and health impacts of dog waste, and celebrate local efforts to maintain a cleaner, safer community.

A fun, family-oriented afternoon combining entertainment, education, and community engagement with a clear message: “Bag it. Bin it”. Activities will include live music, a dog show, face painting, giveaways, and educational opportunities, ensuring broad appeal to pet owners, families, and the public.

CAT FOSTERERS - We couldn’t survive without them.
_______________

Being homeless has brought about a good few challenges to our rescue but we keep on going. The animals don’t understand our difficulties, our struggles, and how overwhelmed we feel each and every day.

MEET THE ANNESVILLE CRESCENT DUO - They were caught during a TNR job. We got four kittens, however sadly one did not survive. 😔Mam has been neutered and has since been returned to the area.

These two shy kitten are about 11-weeks old now and were recently taken into foster care by Niamh and family who have been fantastic cat fosterers. Niamh has consistently helped us with a good few sibling pairs and has taken outstanding care of her little charges.

The family have named these two - Sabre (Black Female) and Billy (Black & White Male). Sabre is under the weather and we hope she pulls through.

These two will need a lot of care, handling and socialisation as they are semi-feral but we have faith in Niamh’s expertise to bring them through.
