Irish School of Horsemanship at Lee Valley Equestrian Centre would like to introduce the newest member of our team!

Welcome to Miret Hammes of MH Horsemanship!

Miret is from South Africa, where she has spent her life with horses, and has had a very diverse and well-rounded career across multiple disciplines. She holds an EQASA instructor certification(Equivalent to the BHS stage 3), a level 4 in the Parelli program(working with the well known Russell Higgins for several years), and completed her certification to train up to medium level dressage and training driving horses with the South African Lippizaner school. She was a member of the South African Lipizzaner Performance Team.
Miret has had an exceptionally well rounded competitive career. She has competed at the South African Championships, Nationals, and Horse of the Year shows. Her competition experience spans show jumping, eventing, stadium eventing, working hunters, in-hand, working equitation, mounted games, dressage, cowboy dressage, extreme equestrian trail obastacles (EETO) and carriage driving.

In addition to training and competing, Miret has worked alongside veterinarians, gaining hands-on experience in rehabilitation, ozone therapy, and wound management and care—further deepening her understanding of the horse as a whole.

Miret’s work is rooted in natural horsemanship, with a strong focus on equine psychology and both horse and rider biomechanics.
Miret is deeply passionate about the art of training—whether developing young horses, refining performance horses, or guiding riders.

Her focus is on the small details that shape the bigger picture, always prioritising feel, patience, and a horse-first approach.

Congratulations Irish School of Horsemanship at Lee Valley student Tara O'Mahoney and Prince on their win in the Novice D-Trec at Bantry Bay Equestrian Center today! They won with a very impressive 85.3%!

D-Trec is a dressage test with TREC PTV obstacles in it. So much fun!

2026 Summer Pony camps!

Camp dates:

July 6-9 Summer Fun pony camp (ages 8-16)
July 20-23 Teen Pony Camp(13-18, must have some horse experience)
August 10-13 Summer Fun Pony camp (8-16)
Horsemanship camp TBA
Adult Pony camp TBA

10am to 3:45pm. Ages 8-16. €230 for the 4 days. Riders will be split into groups based on ability. Lessons, trekking, pony games, arts and crafts, stable management, everything horsey! For more information call or WhatsApp +353 85 1415555.
