This isnโt particularly aimed at my own clients, but generally for anyone that has a dog that needs grooming. Iโve seen a lot of posts the last few weeks from people moaning about groomers being busyโฆ and posts from groomers moaning about having abuse hurled at them for being busy. I myself had someone be so rude to me yesterday on the phone because I canโt fit their dog in (and I didnโt even know them!)

See point 1! Unfortunately we canโt control the weather, if we could it would be perfect working conditions all year round lol. If you are booked (or not) & are trying to move your appointment forward due to the heat, then I can guarantee at least 30 others have tried to do the same that day.. and itโs near on impossible in an already packed diary ๐.

See point 1! Being quite honest, itโs not the groomers fault. It is your responsibility to keep on top of the dogs coat. This means regular brushing.. with the correct brush for your dogs coat type and not a spoon! If you are unable to maintain the coat yourself to keep them matt free, then you should already be booked ahead on a regular schedule with your groomer and not leaving them to get to that point. And no.. not one groomer believes they only matted up last week ๐

See point 1! Although most groomers will find time to fit a puppy in, it still may be weeks to wait. So my advice, is donโt leave it until you think they are ready. Also remember starting them young (after their jabs) is best for them, you and us and not at a year old like some think or are told. Most of my puppy clients call or message me pretty much the day they get the puppy and book ahead to guarantee that first slot.

Although this is our passion, itโs also our job. Itโs what puts food on the table and pays our bills. In particular the last year has been tough, most of us are self employed and have had very little or no help financially. So basically if you havenโt booked ahead and your groomer has a gap.. then they will fill it, whether thatโs with a new client or existing. So to guarantee your appointment, remember point 1 and book ahead. We simply canโt afford to sit here twiddling our thumbs waiting for you to call.

See point 1! Most groomers try to be understanding and a little flexible under certain circumstances as we are well aware itโs swings and roundabouts and sometimes we need to move you ourselves. However, it isnโt always possible to fit you in again quickly. If your groomer doesnโt have space then Iโm afraid you will have to wait for the next available appointment.

See point 1! Regardless of size, itโs not a 5 minute job. Also despite the fact some people think we play with dogs all dayโฆ itโs a hard, demanding job, both physically and mentally! We can get scratched, pooped on, sexually abused lol, bitten.. and donโt even get me started on the toll on our bodies from having to bend into freaky positions just to trim a tail ๐ฑ๐คฃ. We then carry on well into the evening cleaning up all the dog hair, sorting photos, answering queries, arranging appointments, doing our paperwork and ordering supplies like shampoo and pretty bows! Itโs exhausting ๐ฉ.
So no.. โ1 moreโ can be the difference between being healthy and happy and needing to be picked up off the floor and straw fed a large gin ๐คช๐คฃ
Whatever the situation thoughโฆ hurling abuse, shouting at us and simply being rude is NOT OK! We are human, there is only so many hours in the day and no one deserves to be spoken to like something that came out of your dogs rear end ๐ฉ. Groomers are more likely to try their best to help you if you are nice!
Annnnndโฆ if your groomer does bend over backwards to help you.. donโt take this for granted and expect it to happen repeatedly! Please Remember point 1 and book ahead! ๐.
