Bonnie came into us in awful condition. She was emaciated and had bald raw mangey skin that was painful to touch. As a result she is incredibly body sensitive and will need a dog savvy home that will allow her to adjust to domestic life. We are looking for an adult only home or a home with dog savvy teens or no kids. Dog meet required if you have other dogs. Homecheck by City Dog Warden Service and must have a fully enclosed garden if you have a garden. No information on cats for this lady.

Fuji is a young collie we think she is about 3yrs. She was found straying in Cork City. When found her coat was dry and dirty, she had mange, was underweight and unkept looking.
She is now in much better condition and is ready to find her forever clan. Fuji is wary of children, so she is best suited to an adult only household. She seems fine with other dogs and in generally a happy fun lass. Like most collies she enjoys a good walk with lots of sniffing.

Gorgeous friendly little dogs will make a great addition to any family.

BOOKED
Meet Saoirse the Wheaten Terrier. She arrived here as a stray in the running scared in the city centre. She was filthy with her coat matted to the skin. She is only a year old and clearly her first year of life was her being left rot in her kennel between hunts. She is a strong dog but still very gentle despite her size. Friendly and playful still a goofy pup and she would love to live with other dogs. Dog meet onsite required and Homecheck by Cork City Dog Warden. No to cats as Saoirse is a hunting breed that has been worked. Fully enclosed garden required.

Spayed, parasite treated and vaccinated.

He made himself at home immediately and is just a pure peata. He loves the car and loves a walk and a cuddle, he’s the perfect addition to the family and we are so lucky to have him.
Jacky’s sweet nature is badly needed right now and he’s minding Conor very diligently. You couldn’t get a better dog. Thank you for all the hard work you do at the shelter. Jacky will be a spoiled baba for the rest of his life. ❤️

🦦 World Otter Day | 27th May 2026

What can otter spraints tell us about our waterways? Quite a lot.

The Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), or Madra uisce, is one of Ireland’s top predators—and a powerful indicator of ecosystem health. What they eat reflects what’s living beneath the surface.

Recent research in Cork city and harbour analysed otter spraints and revealed a varied diet of fish, crustaceans, and more—highlighting the biodiversity supported by our rivers and coastal waters.

🦦 Did you know?
• Otters use “spraints” (droppings) to mark their territory
• They can travel long distances along waterways
• Ireland is a European stronghold for otters
• Healthy otter populations = healthy ecosystems
