Gone are the days when you could just drop the dog off at the pound. We are full and a kennel has to be free in order for us to take in a dog. Please as soon as you know you can no longer care for your dog please email in to [email protected] with the documentation require to legally surrender so we can place you on our waiting list. While many people have genuine reasons especially with the housing crisis. The reasons for some surrenders are incredibly disheartening such as going on holidays, new job, kids lost interest, new apprenticeship, don’t have time etc. Please take responsibility for your pet and supply the documentation required to go on the waitlist. Staff are working tirelessly to rehome and rehabilitate dogs a high number of dogs. Any threatening of pts, threats to abandon your dog or hostile behaviour with staff will not be tolerated and will be reported to the Dog Warden Service and the Gardai. Staff are here to help with the limited resources and space they have.
To be added to our waiting list which has many high urgency cases.

Ensure you have records of the following documentation:

Dog licence
Microchip certificate
Proof ID and address matching the licence and microchip this is the law we must request this as proof of ownership.
Vaccination records which are up to date.

We refuse to put a healthy rehomable dog to sleep so the dogs in our care are priority. Until those dogs are rehomed, high urgency cases are accommodated and the waiting list is reduced you are required to wait.

Meet Beatrice the Springer Spaniel Cross. Female 2-3 years old. She is the size of a standard female springer spaniel with a smoother coat. Kind of best of both worlds when looking for a spaniel no ? Post walk adventures clean ups will be easy with this gal ! She’s a cuddler and has eyes that would touch the most stoic soul. So its a wonderous mystery why she was found abandoned tied to a pole. One of the many dogs just dumped in this country. We will be looking for a forever home that has experience with working breeds such as springers and knows what’s required to keep these dogs happy and exercised in a domestic home. Fully enclosed garden, no info on cats and Homecheck by Cork City Dog Warden

Meet Piper the smiler ! Typical Springer Spaniel full of beans and rearing to go! 3 year old female.
Make sure to do your research on working breeds and springers. Once you provide the correct enrichment and an outlet tailored to your dog’s breed you will have a very content dog. Could live with other dogs depending on a dog meet. Can’t advise on cats or small furries as this dog is a working line springer. Homecheck carried out by dog warden service. Garden required and must be fully enclosed or have a fenced off area for the dog when outside. To apply https://cspca.ie/animals/piper-

While we are all enjoying the warm weather please keep in mind that our beloved pets may struggle with the heat. Please make sure that your pets have access to shade and fresh drinking water "AT ALL TIMES". Please do not exercise your pets in this heat, believe me, they wont miss a few walks, heat stroke can kill! And for the love of "cop on", DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS IN A LOCKED CAR IN THIS HEAT EITHER!!!

Our most popular group class, hands down 🙌 it’s got to be our puppy class!

This one is for pups up to 5 months of age 👶

Our classes cater to every breed, size and background ☝️ AND it’s held at our mixed indoor & outdoor venue in Douglas!

👉 This beginners class covers everything from teaching your puppy to sit, down and stay in the presence of other dogs, to walking nicely on the lead passed people.

Often puppy owners are also experiencing toilet training issues, mouthing and chewing 😯 so we’ve built in some coping skills to this course to help you navigate those issues.

As always, places are limited, as we’re firm believers in small class numbers in dog training 🙌

When 👉 August 9th at 12:15pm

Have you just gotten a puppy? Book now to start them off on the right paw 📲⬇️

We are full and scrambling to find space and get dogs adopted. Yet another pair of abandoned lurchers used and discarded have appeared. The culture around dog ownership needs to change. You can’t just dump your half starved lurcher when the hunting season ends or there’s no more rabbits to lamp. We know there are responsible dog owners and hunters who obey the regulations currently in place, but this is happening way too often it’s day in and day out our kennels fill with these poor dogs. Shame on the people who left these dogs in this state. These two girls are here now and will receive veterinary treatment and begin the journey to their new life. Meet Cookie and Raisin they will be available for adoption on the 16th July 2025.

🌻Summer checkup🌻

Theres no harm in ensuring your pet is in good health & all spot on & warmer treatments are up to date.

💧Give pets plenty of clean & fresh water💧

Pets can get dehydrated quickly in this humid weather. Ensure shade is provided giving them the option to move away from the sun. Do not over exercise them & keep indoors wen its extreme heat.

🥵Know symptoms of overheating🥵

Excessive panting.
Difficulty Breathing.
Drooling, Mild weakness, stupor.
Elevated body temperature

🚗Alone in Vehicles🚗

Avoid leaving any pets in a vehicle during warm temperatures. Vehicles contain heat & it is very difficult for a pet to regulate their body temperature. Would you sit in a car with the windows slightly open & no air conditioning? No right?! So why should your pet?

🐶Brachycephalic Breeds🐶

These breeds are more susceptible to heat stroke as they cannot pant effectively. It is recommended to not exercise these breeds in the warm/hot weather.

🏊‍♀️Pools, Beaches, Lakes🏊‍♀️

Provide fresh water & avoid them ingesting salt water, chlorine etc.. If your pet is a keen swimmer, introduce them slowly for a paddle.
