Ellie came to us feeling unwell due to chronic kidney disease caused by a ureteral obstruction, a blockage that stops urine from draining properly. 😢
To help her, we performed a Subcutaneous Ureteral Byspass. (SUB) This is special procedure that creates a new pathway for urine to flow from the kidney to the bladder.

Ellie has been visiting us for her routine SUB flushes, and we’re so happy to share that she is doing amazing💛🐾

After a 2 surgeries on his bladder and a week long stay with us, Maximus got the all clear to be discharged! 🎉
This gentle giant was an absolute saint and he was so happy to see his owners when they came to collect him, as they were to see him🥹

🚨 Bird Flu 🚨

There have been confirmed cases of Avian Influenza (bird flu) in Cork recently.
Despite its name, this infection can cause many species, including people, to become unwell.
It causes similar symptoms to any flu (fever, lethargy, ocular or nasal discharge, cough, muscle aches) and is mainly caught by touching infected birds (dead or alive) or their bedding.
Please ensure you do not touch any sick or dead birds. It’s also important not to pick up their feathers or be in contact with their faeces. This also goes for your pets! Cats have a higher risk of serious illness and death with this strain.
Captive/pet birds must be kept isolated from wild species to reduce transmission risk. This includes chickens!

If you’re worried about bird flu in one of your pets, please get in touch. The risk is low but not zero.
