Recently, I tested new bowls for the cattery - shallow at the front to allow for reduced whisker fatigue and higher at the back to allow for the food to be kept in the bowl and not tossed out onto the floor - at which point, most guests consider food on the ground as “totally spoilt” and not to be touched!! While we had always used shallow bowls to benefit the guests, the “pilot” worked in keeping the food in the bowl, so more were ordered and arrived today!! Also received in the post today, a new Atomiser to help keep the cats happy and relaxed - even the more anxious ones - until they settle in and know that all is safe and well here!! A recent improvement to the Cattery is the fitting of black-out blinds to take the “heat” out of the safety corridor during the recent spell of fine weather. However, all the guests are well insulated as they are behind a second layer of double-glazing anyway - but anything to make sure the guests are comfortable and cool during hot periods! Also, a few photos of some guests over the last few months.

Happy New Year to all our Cattery followers and customers!! It has been a long time since our last post; we had a busy time over Christmas and New Year. Quieter times ahead for a while at least, but hopefully, better than the last 2 years of Covid! Wonderful to have a busy cattery again, and this time, longer than just a week or two!! Delighted to see some of our “regulars” return, but lots of “newbies” too. It’s been a long time since the last post, so unfortunately, not everyone will be included.

Delighted with the new “stools”! While we had small chairs for the guests to sit in, I realised that I had nowhere to sit myself when spending time with the guests, or having a cup of coffee with a “newbie” that needed some extra attention and company to settle in. The stools cover both now!!

Following a recent increase in the number of enquiries from potential new customers to Cedar Lodge Cattery, I found myself running through a regular list of suggestions that I provide to most customers, but especially “first-timers”. As a result, I drew up a list of (hopefully) helpful Hints & Tips to assist in making your cat’s stay at almost any cattery, easier and happier. I don’t have photos of a normally busy, guest line-up, as due to the current restrictions, the cattery is understandably quiet. However, the cattery has had a fresh coat of paint and the cattery signs have been re-painted and varnished.

Also, with a desire for continuous improvement, I studied for a Diploma in Feline First Aid; delighted with the result!

While mostly empty, we are still open to care for guests, and taking bookings for the coming weeks and months ahead with optimism!!

It seems like such a long time since Christmas when we had a number of returning and new guests staying with us!! Here’s hoping Covid restrictions can be lifted safely in the near future and people will be able to travel. We are taking bookings all the time, and happy to confirm there are no cancellation fees if Covid restrictions cause a change in arrangements.

We received an enquiry recently from a city centre veterinary practice; delighted that they wanted Cedar Lodge Cattery to be one of their recommended catteries and are including our details in their Kitten Packs!! We were also delighted to hear that we were recommended to this veterinary practice by another city centre veterinary practice - coming up to 3 years open, it’s great to hear feedback of a building and positive reputation!!

After an almost empty October and November, right up to last week, the brief crazy Christmas period is now coming to an end with the first guests leaving today! It was great to have cats back in the cattery - it’s a very lonely place without them!! All cats were treated to the Cedar Lodge Christmas Breakfast Medley - despite best efforts, some of the more fussy residents managed to turn their noise up at some of the choices, but in the end, all were happy and relaxed!!

Trying to maximise the quiet times imposed by Covid - another diploma to add to the collection!! This time, an Understanding Feline Anxiety Diploma. Reducing anxiety and stress for our guests has always been a top priority for us; here are a few photos of recent guests that managed to settle in comfortably!
