✔️ Giving your dog ice cubes

We’ve seen a post circulating on social media which says it’s bad to give your dogs ice cubes.

The post in question is not backed by clinical evidence, and was disproved a few years ago.

It’s fine to feed your dog a few ice cubes on a hot day, so long as they don’t pose a choking hazard. Adding ice cubes to their water works well, as does putting the empty bowl in the freezer.

If your pet is showing signs of overheating, use cool - not cold - water, and switch on the fan if you have one. Don’t wrap your dog in a towel, this will insulate them and prevent cooling. Always seek urgent veterinary advice if your dog has overheated.
