Today's Times reports that recent research has found chronic gum disease in humans is associated with Alzheimer's Disease as well as heart and kidney disease ( amongst others).
Whilst dementia is uncommon in our pets, if we can extrapolate these findings from humans to pets, it is yet more evidence that gum and tooth disease can cause serious disease in other organs in the body. Good oral hygiene - tooth brushing - and professional dental treatment is so important for general health as well as oral health.

Luckily the lab report came back as traumatic damage - she had been chewing plastic!
No sign of cancer, thank goodness.
