Hi all! I have so many of you to get back to, and I promise I will asap.

The past month has been super hectic due to plenty of personal things happening.

I am now taking a much needed break and visiting some family in the UK. I am also attending the Wigan invert show to pick up some really cool new species of inverts, I’m super excited!

These guys arrived today from the wonderful the_creature_coven who packed them super well and safe, and sent beautiful little creatures over! These are Rubber Ducky isopods, something I’ve wanted for a while now 😍😍😍

Every day Squish becomes more curious… he was climbing in and out of my hood, down my arms and back. Absolutely brazen 🤣😍🥰

He’s been upgraded from having his food left in an open dish to him having a “dig pit” and having to hunt for himself. I usually add in isopods (I breed them myself), mealworms, dubia roaches, wax worms and earthworms (which he hates) 🤣

It’s another small step to him being upgraded to his permanent home which will be arriving in a couple of weeks, once I know he’s comfortable hunting his own food I know he’ll be comfortable in a large bioactive enclosure.

Squish also gets moths, locusts and crickets as I try to keep his diet varied as much as I can 🥰

Meet the new additions to the Silverwoods clan 😍

Paisley - long haired red eyed cream female from Margaret at Amberhill Hamstery thank you for letting me have her, she is one of the sweetest girls ever, only been with me a day and wanting to come out for cuddles 🥹💛

Amora & Kraven - short haired sable female and male from Emma at moor_than_hamsters as always my hamsters from Emma have been stunning so I’m looking forward to seeing these grow 🥰🩷

Eden - short haired silver grey female from Catherine at arundel_hamstery I’m really looking forward to breeding her and hopefully getting some more silvergreys at Silverwoods, it’s been too long since we’ve had some. She’s such a lovely girl 😍💜

Theo - Long haired black eyed cream male from Georgia at keezbern_hams, stunning but a little obsessed with his wheel. We will have to manage him a little as he tends to over run himself a bit. Super sweet little guy ☺️🩵

Then we have this cutie pie who hasn’t got a name decided yet. He is a short haired cinnamon boy from Alpha Stud. He is just such a cutie and I couldn’t resist his little face when I saw him. He’s a vocal boy too 😆💙 (name suggestions welcome 🤗)

This weekend I attended Otley show.

The best in show was Callie, a sable girl I bred and she belongs to Emma at Moonstone Hamstery 😁

I brought 3 of Dakota’s pups and all of them came 1st in their classes. All 3 will stay with me.

Feyre - the long haired black eyed cream female got a 1st, two 2nds and two 4ths. She also got a certificate of merit. If she gets 3 of these she becomes a champion 🥰

Nesta - long haired Golden Umbrous female got 1st in non standard and the judge liked her alot 🥰

Gwyn - long haired sable female got 1st in the long haired self class.

Then I brought along

Beatrix - short haired cream female who got 4th place

Oscar - short haired golden male who got 2nd

Then there’s my new additions (I’ll introduce them all properly in a separate post) 💛

Paisley - long haired red eyed cream female, 2nd in class

Amora - short haired sable female, 4th in class

Kraven - short haired sable male, 3rd in class

Squish update!

He has gone from being a lazy sleepy cuddle bug to a super playful curious toddler!

He has started to learn to chase my fingers, and he is starting to “groom” my hands by mouthing and then rubbing himself against me.

He is super confident and loves being out of his cage.

We are smitten with him 🥹❤️

This is an emotional post ❤️

The short lifespans of our beautiful rodents are never long enough, and it’s the hardest part of owning/breeding them. When I saw this range of pet memorial products in my workplace, I just had to share the ones I think you would all love too 🐾💜

The buddy bag - this is a beautiful burial kit for small animals. It comes with a small burial bag, pencils to decorate the bag and a grave marker to stick in the ground to always remember them 🪽🐾

Pet fur bottle - a beautiful jar to put some of your small animals fur in. Small and so precious 🌈🥹

Squish update:

He has been moved to a larger, temporary enclosure. This is to allow him to gain confidence in a larger area, and get his bearings with everything.

Once he gets comfortable, he will be moved to his permanent enclosure (pic attached), which is a good size and will be set up fully bioactive to mimic his natural habitat.

He’s getting very playful and interactive now, as a pup he was sleepy and cuddly, and now he is inquisitive and in his “toddler” phase.

He is being a bit stubborn with feeding himself, and still demands to be hand fed his kitten milk and have his insects killed and hand fed to him, so I’m hoping the might start killing them himself soon.

When I took him in, I totally underestimated the bond we would have, and am amazed at the trust a wild creature can have in humans.

I adore this little guy 🥹❤️
