Fractures are common in cats and dogs, and they can be caused, for instance, by road traffic accidents or falling from a building. They can also suffer fractures due to other illnesses that can make the bones weaker and increase the likelihood of fractures. ๐Ÿฉป

Here at NOAH, our multi-disciplinary team can treat all types of fractures. Our service includes proactive diagnosis, effective treatment and quality post-surgical care.

Weโ€™re capable of handling complex fractures, including those that require inserting all types of plates (including locking) or external fixators to provide successful healing and reduce short and long-term suffering.

We can even repair fractures on smaller pets like rabbits, guinea pigs and other exotic animals.

Syringomyelia, or Chiari-like malformation, is a very common genetic problem in Cavalier King Charles spaniels. Essentially, thereโ€™s abnormal bone growth in the back of the skull, making it too small for the brain. ๐Ÿคฏ

The pressure that this creates affects the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, leading to fluid-filled spaces within the spinal cord, which is called syringomyelia.

Affected dogs can have neuropathic pain and constantly scratch the back of the head, neck or ears with no relief and a range of behavioural changes.

The only way to diagnose this condition is via an MRI, which weโ€™re proud to offer at NOAH.

Treatment can include medication, but brain surgery (occipital decompression surgery) might be needed.

This is a complex condition, so outcomes are somewhat unpredictable. If you suspect your dog suffers from this condition or has been diagnosed, weโ€™ll work with you to tailor a treatment plan that best suits your pet.

We understand how stressful receiving a cancer diagnosis for your pet can be. However, cancer treatments have evolved a lot in veterinary medicine and can be effective in achieving a cure, depending on the cancer your pet has and its stage at diagnosis.

At NOAH, we will take the time to discuss the most practical and effective treatment options with you. Other than treatment targeted at the disease, we will include pain management and controlling any possible secondary illnesses.

You can be sure we will handle your petโ€™s needs, as well as your own, in a compassionate way, and that your petโ€™s quality of life will always be our number one priority.

โ€œYour pet needs an MRIโ€ might be a scary thing to hear, but, if your vet has suggested an MRI scan for your pet, itโ€™s because they want to give them the best possible care.

An MRI scan is used to detect neurological issues, joint abnormalities, and soft tissue injuries that can be hard to diagnose with other diagnostic methods.

In certain situations, an MRI scan is essential to ensure the right diagnosis and, therefore, the best treatment plan for your pet's condition.

Though you may feel apprehensive about subjecting your pet to this exam, an MRI scan is a non-invasive, safe and comfortable procedure for your pet.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions!

Endoscopy is one of the diagnostic tools we offer at NOAH. It works by putting a tiny camera through the nose or the mouth.

This allows us to see inside some organs or structures with great detail, with live images displayed on a screen. Using this tool, we can look for anything out of the ordinary, such as signs of inflammation, bleeding, ulcers or even tumours.

โ” What is an MRI?

An MRI is a scanner that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create very detailed 3D and high-quality images of the inside of your petโ€™s body.

โ”What can an MRI scan detect?

An MRI scan can highlight structural abnormalities in hard-to-access organs, such as the brain and spinal cord, but it can also detect muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries, ear, nasal, and sinus issues, and soft tissue diseases.

โ” Does my pet need to be put under anaesthesia for this procedure?

Yes. During this non-invasive procedure, your pet needs to be placed under general anaesthetic to ensure the process is stress-free, and that your pet doesnโ€™t move so we can gather the images we need.

Here at NOAH, we are one of Irelandโ€™s leading pet MRI and pet CT scan service providers for various pets and small animals. Head over to our website for more information ๐Ÿ”— https://www.noah.ie/specialist-treatments/mri-ct-scans/
