This summer, we will host an intensive 5-day workshop focused on two of the most important — and often not deeply enough understood — foundations of working dogs:
The change of drives and working instincts.
It does not matter whether your goal is sport (IGP, Ring), program work (KNPV), police or military applications — understanding drives and instinctive behavior is the base of everything.
The workshop will be divided into two parts:
3 days — Change of Drives
2 days — Working Instincts
During the first part, we will dive deeply into:
• prey drive, defense, fight and instinctive behavior
• the biological purpose behind these drives in real life
• hunting behavior and predator psychology
• what actually IS a “good grip”
• reading dogs correctly under pressure
• building confidence instead of conflict
• understanding timing, pressure and reward
We will work both as handlers and decoys.
You will learn:
• how to properly handle a dog for better training results
• how to understand decoy work from the inside
• how also to truly play with a dog in a way the dog enjoys and that improves training goals
• how to react to different dogs in different situations
We will work with and without dogs, because real understanding starts long before putting equipment on.
Our goal is not simply to teach you what to do.
Our goal is to help you understand why.
Because real training does not start with fixing symptoms.
It starts with understanding the cause.
Once you truly understand what drives behavior, what creates confidence, conflict, pressure or clarity in the dog — your entire way of working adapts.
The second part continues into our “Working Instincts” system — originally developed from police and military civil workshops and now a key part of our education for all dogs, handlers, trainers and decoys.
You will learn how to properly read dogs in different scenarios and how to react in ways that build confidence, clarity and working ability instead of suppression and conflict.
That depth of understanding is what makes this workshop special.
The workshop will take place this summer at the Legendary Dogs Canine Competence Center.
Camping on site will be possible.
If this is your world — stay tuned.
