With all the wet weather we are having dogs can be at risk from a disease called Leptospirosis, which is spread from infected rats urine.
Symptoms can rapidly progress from lethargy, inappetance and vomiting to severe liver or renal failure.
Avoid wet areas around bins, stagnant streams etc and make sure your dog is vaccinated.

So I got Kips genetic test back today.....63% Maine C**n with a mix of Persian, American Short Hair and weirdly Korean Street cat (which gives him his edge)
More importantly it showed thst he does not have the gene for HCM (a severe heart issue in Maine C**ns) and has no inherited genetic issues....so why does he wake me up at 5am....

An interesting case this week. Choco presented with a bloated stomach, retching but unable to vomit after stealing 6 Danish pastries which caused him to develop a twisted stomach. Surgery was performed and pleased to say hes recoving well at home and has hopefully learnt a lesson !

GDV (twisted stomach) can be avoided by feeding dogs after exercise (not before walks etc)
