Dogs can easily overheat in summer because they don’t cool as well as humans. People sweat to release heat, but dogs mainly pant and lose a little through paw pads and skin.

A cooling vest helps by lowering heat buildup, keeping dogs closer to a safe temperature—especially during outdoor activity.

Why dogs overheat
• Limited sweat glands: Dogs barely sweat through skin.
• Panting limits: Works, but less effective in hot or humid weather.
• Humidity slows cooling: Moist air reduces panting’s effect.
• Higher-risk groups: Short-nosed breeds, older, overweight, puppies, and dogs with health issues.

Safety note
Even with a vest, avoid extreme heat. Watch for signs of heat stress—heavy drooling, rapid breathing, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. Move to shade and call a vet if severe.
