🐾 **Helping Our Older Dogs Stay Comfortable** 🐾

Two options we often recommend are **Cartrophen** and **Librela**:
- **Cartrophen Vet** contains **pentosan polysulfate sodium**, a substance derived from beechwood plant extract. It’s a type of plant-based sugar compound that works to protect the cartilage, stimulate joint repair, improve joint fluid, and reduce inflammation. Cartrophen is given as a series of weekly injections for four weeks, and can significantly improve mobility and comfort in arthritic dogs. We then continue monthly.
- **Librela** is a newer, monthly injection using a special antibody that specifically targets and neutralizes a pain receptor involved in arthritis (NGF – Nerve Growth Factor). It provides long-lasting, targeted pain relief without relying on traditional anti-inflammatory drugs.
