Today’s dinner: two types of 🐟!

Fresh fish is a great source of vitamin D, a nutrient commonly deficient in raw diets. Just 30g of fish a day is enough to cover their vitamin D requirements!

However, not all dogs can have fish due to allergies. In that case a supplement will be required- remember to supplement in D3 form as it’s the most bioavailable.

We love a delicious runny egg yolk!🤤

Did you know that raw egg whites contain avidin, a glycoprotein that binds to biotin? However, egg yolks contain large quantities of biotin, and so the concern of biotin deficiency is only significant if feeding large quantities of egg whites only. In humans, we would have to consume 24 egg whites a day before being at risk of biotin deficiency!

On the other hand, it is well documented (in humans) that cooking increases protein absorption in eggs. No data yet in dogs, but this may be something to consider for dogs having trouble with protein absorption.

Whatever the reason, I’m used to poaching their eggs as they like them that way🍳
