Perros Libres Veteran dogs!
Nila & Nula! 😜⭐🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺
♥️These two dogs are close to 4 years old, and they have been at the sanctuary longer than most dogs!
🍊They are of a unique breed mix, that seems to be prevalent in this area, but seems to be a mix of Louisiana catahoula dogs. Perhaps, also a native Peruvian hunter dog I recently learned about.
⭐These dogs would make excellent hunters, and they're really just balls of energy and fun.
💚They could be thought of as "high energy", and should only go to dog owners who are experienced.
🌊 Have you ever wanted a pair of super dogs? These two would bring life and joy into any family's home! (Outdoor dogs, not indoor!)

We were not supposed to make it.

Born in a sanctuary… but life still tried to take us away.

Parvo hit us hard.
We were weak.
Some of us almost didn’t make it.

But we fought.
And somehow… we survived.

Now we are almost 3 months old.
Alive.
Full of love.
Ready to trust humans again.

But surviving is not enough.

We don’t need pity.
We need a home.

A place where we are not just another puppy in a shelter.
A place where we finally belong.

After over 1,200 days inside the sanctuary...
Bronson has been ADOPTED!! 😭🎉🍾🐕‍🦺🧑‍🦱

Backstory: Bronson came from San Pedro la Laguna, from a very nice woman named Diane who had from the kindness of her heart rescued the mama of Bronson and all her puppies.
Juana, Bronson's brother, came with him, but in a very weird turn of events got himself lost whom we never saw again. 🥲

Bronson is one of the most loyal, well-behaved, and incredible dogs to ever come through our gates. It was amazing that it's taken nearly four years to find him a home.

But how does adoption came about was a very funny story. I was riding home in a Tuk Tuk, 🛺 with this nice man from San Marcos. We got to talking and I told him how I run an animal rescue. He said he wanted to come in and see the dogs when we got there!

At first he thought he wanted a puppy, but when I let Bronson through the gates he fell right in love. He came back a week later to take Bronson home, and now Bronson lives not too far away here on the lake with a happy family.

Amazing stories like this are why we do this work, and it is rare that dogs have to stay so long inside a rescue or sanctuary. Bronson is finally found the happy home he deserves, just like all of our dogs.

It’s not just one puppy.
It’s three.

Three little lives hit by a contagious virus… all at the same time.

One made it.
One is still fighting.
And another one is now at the vet, under observation.

Out here, every day is a race against time.
Every decision is between waiting… or trying to save a life.

And we always choose to try. Always.

But we can’t do this alone.

Tests, treatments, hospital care… it all adds up.
And when cases come together like this, it becomes overwhelming.

This is an incredible opportunity for our organization. In a time of great need for everyone, this wonderful association Dogdog.org is essentially giving a grant to the most voted dog sanctuaries.

Skinny puppy rescue! 🛟💁🐕🥹
Just another day in doggyland, another puppy is rescued and another day goes by. We were able to resuscitate this puppy from a state of illness, to lively energy, walking and eating.
This is great news in the health of our dogs is incredible. Our ability for our puppies to adapt from the street so rapidly is incredible. We're doing a great job here with the new animals, and finding homes for the old ones.

🐾Perros Libres is hiring a full-time, on-site Sanctuary Manager in Guatemala.
This is not a volunteer role. This role combines:

🐶 Dog care
👥 Volunteer leadership
🏡 On-site living
🌿 Nature & sanctuary life

We need someone tough, experienced with dogs, , comfortable leading volunteers, adaptable, and ready to commit for at least 3 months.

🧡If you are actively seeking meaningful work in animal rescue, this could be your place.

At Perros Libres we see it every day:
people ask for puppies,
but the ones who have waited the longest remain invisible.
