Thank you for all the good wishes...

We had a lot of kind messages about the female cat who had her whole tail amputation, but of course none of the photos show her face details.

She is approximately a year old, and totally red / ginger. As the tail operation was so intense, we couldn't sterilise her too, but we will at a later date.

She's doing well at our shelter, still very nervous but her full recovery will take some time of course.

Successful Operation 馃憤馃憤

Following our post earlier this week about the cat with the horrific tail injury from Pythagorio, Samos, she had a successful operation to remove her tail which could not be saved.

After a very delicate and complex surgery, she is now recovering at our shelter for a much needed period of rest and recovery. She will now be pain free and go on to have a happy life. We are delighted 馃挄

Sorry but our shelter will not be open for visitors today.

If you are in Samos, we will open again as normal between 15.00 and 18.00 tomorrow and Saturday.

Our rescue cats would love to see you.

Rescue day....

We are busy every day at our shelter in Samos, sometimes new arrivals, sometimes another successful adoption, lots of visitors..no day is a quiet day.

But today it was a rescue day....this poor female cat was seen in Pythagorio by some helpful supporters and of course, we were happy to help.

The cat has suffered a big trauma and her tail has been severely damaged. Tonight she is safe at our shelter and will see a professional vet on Wednesday morning, most likely for a tail amputation operation.

Your support for this kind of work is vital...vet bills in Samos are a big drain on our donations, so please help our work if you can. Our rescue cats will appreciate it.

Keeping Samos safe and helping the Samos cats...

Summer in Samos brings a huge wildfire risk so we are lucky to have a fantastic firefighting helicopter based at Samos Airport in case of emergency. This summer our helicopter arrived with a special cargo....cat food for our shelter in Samos!!! Truly amazing 馃槏 馃槏

We want to say our big thanks to fantastic pilot Grant and all his team at McDermott Aviation to make this special gift to our work possible.

Busy days....

Our shelter in Samos is still very busy, and currently provides a safe place for 97 rescue cats each with their own unique rescue story.

Our gang includes cats recovering from road accidents, blind and deaf cats, thyroid issues, respiratory issues, old cats with no teeth and just one tiny six week old kitten (called "Rosie") seen here.

This keeps our volunteers very busy and uses all our donations to best effect, so your support is vital to help each individual rescue cat..Our work is only possible with your kindness鉂わ笍

We will soon be open for visitors.

After a long and difficult winter period, we are very busy getting our shelter in Samos ready to welcome guests. We hope to open fully from Friday 15 May and then as normal between 15.00 and 18.00.

Our new washing machine has arrived at our shelter!!

A big big thank you to everyone who helped us with a donation to buy a new shelter washing machine. It is probably the single most important piece of equipment to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for our rescue cats.

馃啒 馃啒 馃啒 Hygiene and cleanliness are vital to running a cat shelter.

After six years of nonstop work, sometimes three washes each day, our shelter washing machine decided to end it's days this week which is a big disaster for our cats.

We have spoken to the shop in Samos for a new one, but first we have to find around 500e

We need your help....

The winter of 2026 has been the most challenging since we started our work 16 years ago. Many strong damaging storms and endless rain have proved very difficult at our shelter with very difficult conditions for the rescue cats and our volunteers. Today the sun came back and it was a day to be enjoyed by our gang as you can see from the photo.

Our food stocks are dangerously low as our cats have been eating more every day to keep warm.

Could you help us please...we want to bring them a much needed food order, so every donation will help us.
