Arriving in our care yesterday was this sweet male kitten aged around 4-5 weeks old.

He was found in the village of Hora, Samos unable to use either of his back legs. It's (thought) from the man who found him, that he may have fallen a great height from a house balcony!!

We will take care of him now and give him cortisone medication to promote healing. It is not known at this time of he will ever walk again....we need all your best wishes please.

"The best day of our holiday in Samos"...

Have you visited our shelter in Samos yet this summer?..we open for visitors Monday to Saturday 15.00 to 18.00 and our volunteers and rescue cats will be very happy to see you.

Everyone who visits gives us a great review and only yesterday a kind visitor from Holland said "it was the best day of her whole holiday"

New young arrival...

This tiny boy arrived at our shelter yesterday after being found all alone in a busy street in Samos Town. Aged around 2.5 weeks, he is not yet ready for eating alone so our volunteers must feed him Babycatmilk every few hours.

Did he have a mummy cat, why was he alone...we just don't know but he is safe now in our care.

Hot days in Samos....

After a nice tasty breakfast, nothing better than having a nice sleep to cool and rest to beat the heat of the day.

New arrival "Jeffrey" who is totally deaf in both ears enjoys his nice bed this morning. He arrived in our care this week and is doing very well - of course we are careful to give him complete safety as he cannot hear dangers.

Have a purrfect visit to our shelter in Samos..

It's always exciting to welcome visitors to our shelter most afternoons during the summer. It's a great way for our cats to enjoy some attention and for our volunteers to explain our work over the last 15 years.

However, over the last few weeks, a number of parents have visited with young children who have completely stressed our rescue cats. Our main role is to have a rescue centre for sick and injured cats and kittens, not to be the Samos zoo.

If you plan to visit with young children please be mindful and ensure children are quiet and well behaved with our rescue cats. Thank you 馃槉

Before and after...

The small kitten rescued from Vourliotes village, Samos on 23 July has made a remarkable improvement after just 10 days of care and medication. He is very lively and happy at our shelter, playing every day with other orphan kittens.

His left eye will be operated in the next weeks to "close" the eye area and to prevent any further infection.

Does everyone remember the "Sea Kittens"

The four week old kittens that were found in the ocean in Pythagorio, Samos on 16 May are doing really well at our shelter.

Now aged about 13 weeks, the brother and sister are very healthy, playful and growing up well. The had their first vaccinations this week to keep them healthy in later life. They are very close and we would dearly love them to find a forever home together later this year.

It's a very hot day again in Samos..

With daytime temperatures touching 48c in our shelter garden, our volunteers are working hard to keep our rescue cats cool and hydrated.

Here one of our young female cats enjoys laying on a frozen freezer block from our shelter refrigerator and enjoys being a cool cat.

Before and after...

Many of our supporters will remember the story of the tiny kitten from Ireon, Samos that arrived at our shelter on 19 May with very serious damage to her left eye.

Now, some weeks later, her damaged eye has been operated and she has made a great recovery, vaccinated too. She has no more pain or discomfort and is a happy healthy lady. We are delighted at her progress.

We can only perform miracles like this with your kind support, as medical care and vet treatment is often expensive.

One day later....

The kitten rescued from Vourliotes village yesterday is doing very well, the antibiotics and eye drops have made a big improvement over 24 hours. He is eating and drinking very well.

As we reported yesterday, his left eye is destroyed but we are sure we can return his right eye to full health. He will have an operation in some weeks to "close" the left eye.
