Vafkeri Village-Lefkada Island Traditional and old village located in Lefkada-Lefkas island between Karya and Nidri. Nowdays there is a taverna, a bar, and the Lefkada Villas Hotel

Vafkeri is the oldest of the villages of island of Lefkada. With a long history of several hundrends of years, the houses and streets remain unspoilt, exactly the same as in the 1800 century. The villa ge was hided from the sea, in order to avoid the danger of the pirat's ships, who were looking for villages as Vafkeri, to steel food, money and jewellery. During the second world war, the people of

Vafkeri resisted and many of the local people were killed. Thereafter the village remained empty with the houses turned into stone ruins until today, that Greek business man George Papadopoulos owner of Xenia Resorts and Villas, created the Lefkada Villas complex, a by renovating some houses into luxury villas with private swimming pools. Additionaly the local coffee shop which was there since the 18th century, was transformed to a traditional Greek restaurant. The rest of the village remains as it was 200 years ago, with the old churches, the old stone houses, and the stone-built street, the horse routes and the breathtaking view of the sea and the mountains.
