The Kalymnos Cat Project is a volunteer program focusing on education and Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) to manage the overwhelming stray cat crisis on the island of Kalymnos, Greece.

❣️ Supporting the Island’s Cat Colonies 🇬🇷❣️

Karen, Tero & Imogen, three dedicated volunteers from the Kalymnos Cat Project, carried out the weekly rounds across the island’s feeding stations Visiting each colony allows the team to monitor the cats regularly, provide food and care 🥣❤️, and keep track of new arrivals or animals needing extra attention.

📍 During these rounds, the volunteers were also able to map the different colonies and identify cats in need of sterilisation, medical treatment, or further care 🩺. This ongoing work is essential to improving the welfare of the island’s stray cat population and helping manage the colonies responsibly.

At AB Food Market, many cats are living in the parking area, so our volunteers decided to start a new trapping mission for the Kalymnos Cat Project 🇬🇷

When Leslie arrived to place the traps and help the cats get used to eating inside them, her first impression was worrying: she immediately spotted several unsterilized cats and only one that was clearly ear-tipped and already sterilized, which is why we are sharing these photos today.

Fortunately, as the mission continued, we discovered that more cats had actually already been sterilized than we first thought. More details and results will be shared soon! 😉

Very soon, we will also post videos of the captures as well as the full TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) report for this location.

Every sterilization makes a real difference for these cats and helps prevent even more kittens from being born in difficult conditions.

We are trying to bring back two adorable brothers from Kalymnos 🇬🇷. One of them will travel with Leslie on May 20, but without a solution, the other will have to stay behind—and that’s not an option because they are truly inseparable 😔😔

The es**rt mission ends as soon as you arrive at the destination airport—a volunteer will be there to pick up the cat! No costs involved 💰

TNR continues 👊🏼🐱

Two of our volunteers responded to a call from a visitor who had been feeding several unneutered cats near the top of the ring road in Mirties.

On Sunday night, they placed traps with food inside 🍗, leaving them open so the cats can get used to going in and out without being scared. On Wednesday, the volunteers began the actual trapping before taking the cats to the vets.

The Kalymnos Cat Project is looking for a flight es**rt for an adorable, extremely chilled and friendly, blind cat, travelling (in the cabin), to his new home.
In the first instance it would be great if we can find someone travelling on the flights detailed above, as our President is travelling on the same flights (also with cats), so you will have assistance every step of the journey.

All costs will be covered, and the es**rt role ends at Nice Airport.

I’m one of the lucky ones… I’ve been sterilized. That means no more exhausting fights, no more endless litters, and a healthier, safer life on the streets of Kalymnos 🇬🇷

Your donation will be doubled this April for the cats of Kalymnos ✨🙏🏼
