Meet Barney💙

Barney was found tied up outside our shelter on 28/03/2026. Understandably, he was very frightened when he first arrived, and we placed him in the garden area where he could feel safe and settle in at his own pace.

Since then, Barney has made wonderful progress. His confidence has grown every day, and he now gets along very well with all the other dogs. He is a gentle, friendly boy who enjoys the company of both people and animals.

Barney is also friendly with cats and children, making him a great candidate for a family home. Despite his difficult start, he has shown a loving and trusting nature and is ready to leave the shelter behind and begin a new chapter with a family of his own.

Barney is looking for a home where he will be loved, cared for, and never abandoned again. In return, he will offer loyalty, companionship, and plenty of affection.

Our new rescue, puppy Kanelos needs support to undergo surgery…

Please watch his rescue and hospitalisation. He was brutally hit, suffers a broken jaw and we simply don’t have any more money to help him do the surgery he needs. Our vet and food bills exceed 30.000 euro.

We are drowning in debts and everyday more and more animals need our help… we are sinking 😭

Football has the power to inspire change beyond the pitch. Through this special initiative, OFI Football Club, Minoan Lines and the Gouves Animal Shelter join forces to deliver an important message: **Adopt, don't shop**.

The stars of this video are not only the players of OFI, but also three remarkable former street dogs — **Morena, Rokko and Agapi**. Their stories remind us that every animal deserves a second chance, a safe home and a family that will love and protect them. Through their presence, the campaign highlights the countless stray animals waiting to be adopted and encourages people to choose adoption over buying pets.

This initiative comes during a historic period for OFI, following the club's triumph in winning the **2025–26 Greek Cup**. By using the visibility and influence of sport, OFI demonstrates that true victories extend beyond trophies and titles, embracing values such as compassion, responsibility and solidarity. And Minoan lines , one of the biggest ferry companies of the country encourage us to travel with our pets and share memories. Thank you to both for the important message and support for the animals.
