Remembering the late Msaileb
Back in 2022, when Yazo Kennel was first birthed, we were ambitious and considered diving into multiple breeds. After extensive research and several calls, our path led us to Haus Of Vigilio Rottweilers, Crowded EmpireKennel STUD, and Lion Kennel —it was there that we truly connected with Samir Msaileb.
The mentorship and education Samir provided helped us narrow our focus. Following his guidance, we decided to settle on just two breeds: Rottweilers and German Shepherds. In fact, our very first GSD female—Lora, a beautiful working-line long coat—came directly from him.
As we expanded in 2023, Samir was instrumental in helping us acquire two solid imports from Lebanon, Nadia and Tommy. Later, in 2024, he further supported our vision by providing us with one of his own studs, Omar.
Our five-year journey breeding GSDs hasn't been easy. Within the first three years, we faced the frustration of having no litters and almost gave up entirely. While our Rottweilers cushioned us with successful back-to-back litters, the GSD side of the kennel felt stagnant.
We eventually approached Samir during our first appearance at the August Classic Dog Show, where we were showing Nadia and Tommy. It was there that we opened up to him about our struggles and our plan to sell off the GSDs to focus solely on Rottweilers.
wouldn’t let us quit. He invited us for a sit-down, reviewing our practices and teaching us exactly what to improve. That conversation in late 2024 changed everything.
By December 2024, we welcomed our very first GSD litter of eight puppies. Had we not opened up to Samir, we would have walked away from the breed. Success followed quickly: our second litter arrived in October 2025, and a third soon after from his favorite girl, Lora.
We would not have come this far in breeding fine GSDs if it weren’t for Samir’s wisdom and the support of our colleagues at the Kennel Union of Ghana.
Today, Yazo Kennel remembers Samir Msaileb not just as a breeder, but as a pillar of the canine industry and a mentor who believed in us when we didn't believe in ourselves.
Rest well, Sir 🕊️
