Warning ⚠️ To all dog owners / dog walkers.
Take note.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search Unit will be holding a training exercise around Fort Le Marchant on Monday 15th June between the hours of 8am and 1pm.
Throughout the morning islanders can expect to hear several low-level, low-impact explosions generated from the exercise.
There will be no vehicle or pedestrian access to the area between these times for safety reasons, and a cordon will be implemented throughout. The cordon will be in the same place as previous exercises and similar to normal firing range operating procedures.
We know there may be pets and livestock in the surrounding area during the exercise, especially with it being a popular dog walking area, who may end up distressed due to the noise. We are issuing this notice in advance to give people enough time to be made aware and make preparations.
We would advise that all dog walkers ensure their dogs are on a lead when walking beside the cordons and around the general area, and any appropriate mitigations are in place for livestock to cause the least amount of stress to them.
The training is a necessary exercise carried out annually by the EOD&S Unit to ensure they remain well prepared for events that could affect the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
If you have any queries about the exercise, please email [email protected].
📷 Pedestrian access East and West is maintained throughout, but there is no access North of the red cordon line including.
