Look who's coming to town !
Josie trained with us and achieved her animal nursing assistant qualification and then went over to the UK to train and qualify as a registered veterinary nurse.
She is back to work as a locum at AAWS,alongside Bethany for 10 days, whilst Kelly is off having a well earned break.

Hi everyone, just to let you all know our lovely nurse Kelly is taking a few weeks well deserved holiday so won't be available for any advice or queries but don't panic as our other nurse Bethany and our newly qualified Animal care assistant Leah will be happy to help, via the appropriate channels of course 😊

Look at this beautiful girly!
Tinker is our pet of the month for April, last year her owner noticed one of her eyes had changed and her sight deteriorated. We found she had painfully high pressure which didn't respond to meds, we removed this eye for her comfort and she did great! Unfortunately, the same happened with her other eye, after a second surgery to remove her remaining eye she is now happy as ever, in no discomfort and ruling the roost with her canine brother.
Super well done Tinker and parents for an amazing recovery for such a lovely sweet girl.
She just goes to show how well pets can manage without one of their senses

New tightening of travel regulations means pets with EU passports who do not have permanent residence in the EU will no longer be able to use previously issues EU pet passports.
For up to date recommendations we always suggest checking the most recent advisories from https://www.gov.gg/pettravelscheme and https://www.gov.uk/taking-your-pet-abroad
and gain an Animal Health Certificate from the vets in Guernsey.

Take your pet dog, cat or ferret abroad: getting a pet passport or export health certificate, microchip, vaccinations and tapeworm treatments.

We have had a number of myxomatosis rabbits this spring, please be aware affected rabbits will be non responsive, lethargic, uncoordinated and may have visible swellings around the eyes, nose and ge****ls, and be underweight.
Any suspected live animals should be reported to us, and ideally brought to the clinic. It is important to wear gloves or use a towel, and wash your hands thoroughly after any contact and avoid letting your dog eat cadavers

We've had a few seals resting on our beaches in various areas around the island recently, they need rest and to be left well alone, especially the young ones.
If you spot one please do not approach, or allow your dog to approach as this causes them distress and exhaustion.
If a seal is looking at you or being vocal, you are too close! Please feel free to notify AWT or ourselves if you are worried about one, particularly if they are in a high traffic area or look injured
