Given the horrific news of 5 horses being killed on the road this last week can we have a real effort made by everyone to keep the gate shut…there has been an increase in the number of instances it’s open…if in doubt shut it, even if you come to it and it’s open

Good morning

I love receiving messages from people, And will continue to take the time to message back to every one of them…
however at the moment I’m receiving high numbers re livery spaces due to the bad weather and the fabulous facilities we have…so just thought I would pop a post on so people know what’s what here at THF.

We are completely full with a waiting list of 6+ horses (and we’re a small yard of 12 horses, so can take us a while to get through these) - we don’t just take anyone in, we like to get to know prospective liveries first through arena hired, look rounds and will ask for references too. Our latest livery probably doesn’t know that their old yard personally messaged me to tell me how amazing they were (they were relocating to the area) and they were not wrong, she really is.

Once the waiting list is exhausted I will update here if any spaces stay vacant.

25th of October we’re hoping to run a Halloween trail here at THF
We will set some obstacles in the outdoor arena (like a little trec course) and then have a little trail set up around the farm again - and a pumpkin to take home 🎃 carve it and the winner will get a prize 🏆
The price will be £10 per rider (£4 for any accompanying children wanting a pumpkin who are on foot) parents I will have the pumpkin patch a little closer this year lol 😂 so no having to carry them back!

If you can’t make the 25th but want a go I’m sure I can keep some things up…

£10 includes both the obstacles (spend as long as u want) in the outdoor and a walk round the trail.

A little update from Thornton House Farm 💚

As everyone knows, costs have gone up across the board recently — but we’ve decided to keep our arena hire and competition fees exactly the same until at least January 2026.

We’re really proud to be part of such a great community, and after chatting with a good friend this week, we’ve decided we’d like to do something to give back. So… we’re setting up a food bank collection here at the farm.

Instead of increasing prices, we’d love it if, whenever you use the arena, you could bring along a small item of food or a toiletry — things like a tin of baked beans, pasta, cereal, or soap/shampoo/deodrant/nappies. They already have a great connection with Always who are providing sanitary products, but any other toiletries or food items would be hugely appreciated.

Let’s try and make a difference — there are far too many children and families struggling right now, and together we can help make things a little easier 💛
