ys had a love of dogs, unable to have a dog as a child growing up, the first thing Hannah did when she moved out was buy her first dog, a Rottweiler puppy named Roxy. Sadly Roxy only lived until she was 6 but was the foundation for Hannah’s interest in competitive obedience and taught Hannah so much. Since Roxy, Hannah has owned 3 other Rottweilers, has bred litters, competed in hundreds of obedience shows, earning her a place at Crufts 2017, has competed in Championship Breed shows with the dog she bred and has had a go at Agility and Rally-O. More recently Hannah became involved in training working Gundogs (Labradors), and competing in Gundog Working Tests and Trials. Between September and January Hannah can be found in fields working her dog on shoots as a picker upper or in the gunline shooting or mentoring. Hannah holds an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate (April 2019) and also a Canine First Aid Certificate (June 2019). Hounds with Hannah's mission is to provide first class, friendly, and personal group classes and canine behaviour consults with a view to educating owners on the canine mind and their behaviour with a view to improving the quality of life of canine companions. Hannah understands the importance of training the owner, to train their own dog, more than half the battle is training the owner!

🐾 Where does your dog sleep? 🐾

Curled up in their own bed? Stretched across the sofa like they pay the mortgage? Or wedged upside down in the most uncomfortable position imaginable? 😆

Every dog seems to have their own favourite sleeping spot, and some of them are certainly... unique!

Share a photo of your dog's favourite sleeping spot in the comments. We'd love to see them! 🐶💤

One year ago today, I said goodbye to Riddick.

As dog owners, we know our time with them is never long enough, but that doesn't make the goodbye any easier.

The dogs we love never truly leave us. They become part of our stories, our lessons, and the reason we appreciate every moment with the dogs beside us today.

Miss you, Riddick. Always. 🖤🐾

🐾 Training isn't always the starting point.
When people are struggling with their dog's behaviour, the first instinct is often to teach more obedience.

But before we ask our dogs to learn, it's worth asking whether their basic needs are being met.
💤 Are they getting enough quality sleep?
🥩 Is their diet supporting them properly?
🚶Are they receiving the right amount of exercise for them?
🎾 Do they have opportunities to play, explore and simply be a dog?

Training matters, but it's much easier for dogs to learn when the foundations are already in place.

Think of it like building a house. Strong foundations first, then everything else has something solid to stand on.

Every dog is an individual, but meeting their physical and emotional needs will always be the best place to start. 🐾

🏡 Collar off, relax mode on! 🐾

Did you know that one of the safest places for your dog's collar is often hanging by the front door?

While collars are essential for walks and identification, wearing them around the house can pose risks. Tags can get caught on crates, furniture, heating vents, or even another dog's collar during play. In rare cases, this can lead to panic, injury, or worse.

Removing your dog's collar indoors can also help prevent rubbing, matting, and pressure on the neck, giving their skin and coat a chance to breathe.

Of course, every dog and household is different, but it's worth considering whether your dog really needs to wear their collar 24/7.

Do your dogs wear their collars in the house, or do they go "naked" indoors? 🐶👇

🐾 Thinking of getting a second dog? 🐾

Before you take the plunge, ask yourself:

🐕 Does your current dog actually enjoy living with other dogs?
⏰ Do you have time for individual training, walks and attention?
💰 Can your budget comfortably cover double the costs?
🏡 Do you have enough space for another furry family member?

A second dog can bring double the fun, but it's important to remember that every dog is an individual with their own needs.

How many dogs do you have in your pack? 🐾👇

🐕 Fun Fact Time! 🐕

Dogs can actually smell your feelings.
Their noses are so powerful they can detect tiny changes in your scent caused by emotions like stress, fear, or happiness. 💛

So when your dog appears out of nowhere the second you’ve had a bad day… that’s not magic.
That’s a furry emotional support detective with zero respect for personal space. 🐾🕵️

I’m not going to jump on the bandwagon and tell you not to walk your dog in this heat…

But maybe don’t march poor Doggo down the pavement at 2pm like you’re training for the SAS.

If the ground’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. If you’re sweating just putting the bins out, imagine wearing a fur coat and not being able to complain on Facebook about it.

Early mornings and late evenings exist for a reason.
Use your brain, carry water, and remember your dog would happily eat a sock — so you really do need to do the thinking for both of you.

Puppy Winston has recently decided that a small ditch is actually a life-threatening obstacle worthy of a full risk assessment. 🐾😂

Confident around dogs, people, traffic and mud… but ask him to step over a tiny gap in the ground and suddenly it’s a hard no.

Dogs really do humble us with the weird and wonderful things they’re scared of!

What completely irrational thing has your dog decided is terrifying? 👀
