Being the mum of an old dog is such a privilege, but it can also be a big challenge...

This is my Cosmo, who will be 16 in April. Our beautiful, soulful April fool! 🥰

Cozzie (or Cosmonaut, Cosmotron, Cosmo The Wonder Dog, or Cosmosis, as he's affectionately known to his fans) has had a rocky road health-wise these last few months, and we're constantly chopping and changing in response - forever trying to do what's best for him. And then questioning practically every decision we make!

There have been a lot of nights recently where it's him and me on the couch (he can't safely manage the stairs now), but that's my promise to all of my animals: they don't go through anything tough without me. So I'll always be there.

After another sofa surfing evening, I've just snapped this pic, and wanted to post it. I love this dog with every beat of my heart and I know too well what lies ahead of us. But for now, I'm going to soak up every moment of his loyal and unconditional love, and wrap him so tightly up in mine ❤️

Hero: a Wheely Good boy since June 2023, and his Mum and Dad's best little mate for so much longer ❤️💔

Hero was my only dog to get a visit rather than a walk, as his legs had got a bit wonky in his later years. But that just meant he got all the head kisses 😘 😘😘

The one part of this job I could never prepare for is what it feels like to lose someone who's not mine, but who had completely stolen my heart. And Hero had me wrapped around his little paws in about 16 seconds.

He trusted me to carry him about, scoop him up when he got too barky, help him in and out of bed, and eat while sitting on my knee. And I loved every minute of visiting him and letting his lovely Mum know what a cosy time we were having.

Adored for every second of his heroic little life, I feel so grateful I was trusted to be part of it. 🥰

I'll miss you so much my wee friend. I'll always look for you when I cycle up your street 💔
