Happy International Cat Day!😻

Here at Rowe Cat Clinic, we strive to get to know our clients and patients as well as we can in order to make a calm and positive visit for all involved.
This may involve a human lick-e-lix dispenser, some time to play and become comfortable, making sure all our inpatients are provided with a safe space to using the vet as your own personal climbing frame!

We don’t just provide positive reinforcements with treats, playful interactions and a safe space to make vet visits positive, but it’s also provided because this is a much needed requirement for cats in any environment! 🏠

To celebrate International Cat Day, let’s make sure our homes are as cat friendly as they can possibly be!

A simple tasty hack to try and help keep your cats cool in the warmer weather🌞

Other ways to keep your cat cool include:
⚫️Providing plenty of shade
💧Keeping hydration levels up - extra bowls indoors and outdoors, move water bowls away from food bowls or litter trays, or even trying a "Feline Hydration Supplement" like Purina Hydra Care.
❄️ Introducing cooling mats
🐈 Regular grooming, especially for our long haired friends. This can help remove any dead hair which will trap heat!
⚠️ Know the signs of heatstroke

Signs of Heatstroke can include:
⚠️ Collapsing
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Dribbling
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Diarrhoea
⚠️ Confusion
⚠️ Seizuring

If you think your cat is suffering from heat stroke, contact your vets immediately.
Whilst contacting your vets, move your cat to a cool place (ideally with a draught), and gently apply cool water to their coat, and offer them a drink.
