πŸ“’ Meet the team πŸŽ‰

Meet Michaela.

Michaela is one of our student veterinary nurse here at Wildbore and has been with us since 2019, and will hopefully be qualified as a registered veterinary nurse very soon, she is also a big wildlife enthusiast. When asked what her favourite part of her job was, Michaela said 'Seeing the difference made with animals that enter the practice. Whether it's a poorly animal that I've helped to nurse until they're better, or whether it's a nervous animal that I've spent time with to build a bond of trust.'

Outside of work, Michaela loves spending time with her animals, Bubbles, a 14 year old staffy cross, Tia, a 12 year old domestic shorthair and 9month old Domestic Shorthair kittens, Lilith and Nancy, she also likes listening to music and reading and writing.

Ticks can be as small as a sesame seed but can carry dangerous diseases, like Lyme disease, which affects both pets and humans. Tick bites often go unnoticed until symptoms appear.

🌿 Warmer weather means the start of tick season. Check your pets regularly and speak to us about tick prevention.

Meet Lauren.

Lauren works on front of house and has been at Wildbore since 2017, she also helps to run our Pet Health 4 Life plan. Lauren is one of our loudest team members and you will always hear her before you see her. Lauren has four cats, Luna (named after Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter) who is 8, Myrtle (also from Harry Potter) who is 2 and Anakin (named after a Star Wars character) who is also 2 and Padme (also named a Star Wars character)

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her partner and 2 children, reading, cross stitching and gaming.

Laurens favourite thing about working at Wildbore is meeting all of our clients and learning new things everyday.

Talking pesky parasites in cats πŸͺ± 🐈

Cats can get roundworm and tapeworm by accidentally eating their eggs, and it’s important to take preventative treatment by giving them a regular wormer.

Symptoms of worms include:

🐈 Weight loss
🐈 Eating more
🐈 Diarrhoea
🐈 Tapeworm segments (which look like grains of rice) in your cat’s poo

If you have any concerns or questions about worming your cat, get in touch.

πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ‰ Wildbore has been awarded 3rd place Champion for Quality Improvement in practice in the RCVS knowledge awards 2025! πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ‰

The RCVS Knowledge Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the veterinary profession β€” recognising teams who are using Quality improvement methods to advance the quality of care through innovation, leadership, and evidence-based practice.

Our project focused on inpatient nutrition as a vital part of caring for poorly pets during their stay with us. We implemented feeding plans, tailored nutrition, and nursing interventions to help get our inpatients feeling back to their normal selves as soon as possible!

It was a whole team effort nurse led by Amy RVN, Kim our lead ward nurse, and Claudine our nursing manager (proudly pictured here with our shiny new plaque!)

We are delighted to be recognised for the hard work and dedication that goes into planning and delivering care for our patients πŸ’šπŸΎ

It's going to be VERY hot over the coming weeks!β˜€οΈ

While it means longer evenings (and a great excuse for an extra walk with your pooch), there are precautions owners need to take to keep pets safe on hot days.
