Jayque Dazzle - 4 years old

Dazzle is a beautiful soul who belies her age with a grizzled look thanks to her lovely grey muzzle. She's a really laidback girl, has plenty of energy but not over the top with it, she's really good on the lead and inquisitive about most things but doesn't have any malice in her

She'd be great in most situations, fantastic with kids of all ages and other breeds of dog

Ace is a lovely boy on the younger side who has everything going for him! He's a playful boy who has all of the personality, he's great with children and other dogs, and fantastic on the lead. He has stunning looks with a sleek black coat, with plenty of energy but loves to chill as well, He would fit in to most situations really well

They have recently updated their scheme to allow supporters to chose a charity whether they are local to them or not, so please open up your VIP app, go to settings, 'manage pets club' and select us as your chosen charity!

Great Gossey - 5 years old

Poor Gossey just hasn't had a lot of luck, the amount of times he's made it to a final two at viewings only to lose out means that it is surely his time soon

He is the most beautiful boy, he has a lush black coat with unique white markings on his paws, nose and tip of his tail. He does have the personality to match, he has plenty of sass and is a handful on the lead so he would be looking for a home with children over the age of 10

He's very loving and loves having his ears tickled and a treat in his mouth. He'd be fine with other larger dogs, but not smaller ones or cats

Gossey has been walked twice at our walks by Janette and Andy who had this to say - "He's a very handsome boy. We walked him on Sunday, he walked beautifully all the way. He liked attention and leaned against us when he wanted more. He was such a good boy and a pleasure to spend time with"

Have you considered or been looking into rehoming an ex racing greyhound? We get many emails/messages asking for the basics so here is a rundown -

We are based in Workington, on the Western edge of the Lake District and can home all over the North of England and Southern Scotland

All of our dogs come spayed or castrated, fully vaccinated, with a lead and collar, ongoing food and as much help and advice as needed

They make fantastic pets and can generally settle into most situations, in the main they are great with other breeds of dogs, children (we are happy to home to families) and even occasionally cats!

The Greyhound Trust homing fee is £250

Our homing process always starts with a home assessment. This can be done in person or virtually depending on your location, and is a great way for us to find out what we need to about you and for you to ask all of the questions that you have!

Once complete, it’s generally a visit to the kennels to meet some of our dogs and find a hound to fall in love with. We generally work on a trial basis where you take your chosen hound to your home and let them settle in before any paperwork is filed, adoptions only go through once everyone is happy

Always Able - 5 years old

Able is a lovely boy who's just turned 5 with a full head of steam! He's a strong boy who has plenty of power on the lead, he is alert and reactive to other dogs when out on walks, so would not suit young children

He does have all the energy in the world so if you're a walker he's going to love that, he's great with other greyhounds, especially female, and would also suit being the only dog in the home, but would not be good with smaller dogs

He has previously been in a home on short term foster for a week so has some house training and experience

BOYS BOYS BOYS!!

We’ve noticed a trend at Cumbria Greyhound Trust the last few months, nobody seems to want our boys! We’ve had lots of enquiries for the girls and they generally move on pretty quickly, but our boys are getting really overlooked!

It’s such a shame as we have some real beautiful males among our dogs looking for homes, whether it’s with his previous home experience, with his energy for days (great for the fell walkers), or who has looks to die for..!

There are a lot of misconceptions we hear about boys being harder work, too big for a home, more difficult to walk etc Each dog has their own characteristics and each and every boy we have available has the perfect home somewhere so why not get in touch to enquire about some of them

Altmore Melody - 5 years old

Melody is a super chilled 5 year old boy, who is going to fit in to most situations. He's a quiet boy, he does love life but isn't over the top, he's great with children and other dogs of all breed/size

He does have a certain sense of stubbornness about him, his favourite activity is sitting at the top of our field and refusing to come in until he is ready, he would love some sort of outdoor space where he can snooze in the sun

He has been walked at our last two walks by younger people and both times has been fantastic on the lead

Footfield Logan - 3 years old

If you're looking for a bundle of fun then Logan is for you..! He's a big boy with gorgeous white and black markings, and he absolutely loves life. He's the life and soul of the kennels, always has his nose in someone else's business and is everyone's friend

He's great with other large dogs but unlikely to be with small dogs and definitely not cats. He'd be great with older children but due to his size he'd be too big for smaller ones
